Nanala had been woken up at around eight in the morning by Henry. Henry had managed to climb on to her bed, and he kept jumping on to her. He would crawl to the edge of the bed and jump forward on to Nanala. The woman had managed to get headbutted right in the mouth. The pain from the headbutt and the cry from Henry had woken her up. Not even two minutes later, Laura came into the room and gasped at the sight.
"Just take him, please," Nanala murmured, as she yanked off her shirt to hold to her bleeding mouth.
"Clint!" Laura exclaimed, as she picked up Henry to calm him down.
Henry hadn't gotten hurt, but the headbutt had spooked him. When he seen the blood on his mother, he started to cry, because he knew he hurt her. He was upset with himself, and he knew the woman was really hurt. Anyhow, moments later, Clint came rushing into the room.
"Oh no," He said, as he walked into the room and seen the bloody shirt held to Nanala's mouth.
Clint went over to Nanala's dresser and grabbed a new shirt for her, before he helped her stand and walked her to the bathroom.
"Let me see," He told her, as he placed his hand on hers to pull it away from her face.
He frowned when he seen all of the blood on her face, and when he pulled down her bottom lip, his eyes widened. Henry had busted open her lip with his head, and she was going to need stitches. He felt around on her face to make sure nothing was broken, before he started cleaning up the cut in her mouth.
"I have a first aid kit where I can do stitches, but I have to find it," Clint said, causing Nanala to nod.
Nanala had stopped using magic as much for injuries, even ones like this, since Laura had advised her that she believed magic could mess up Nanala's body. Anyhow, Clint dug around under the sink, as well as running to his room to look on the shelf in his closet before he finally found it.
"This'll hurt," He commented, making her frown.
"I've got a potion to help with the pain," She replied, causing him to nod.
Giving the girl a reassuring smile, Clint began to stitch up the cut in the girl's mouth. He only had to do six stitches, but to Nanala and to Clint, it felt like more than just six. He hated seeing her in pain, and the pain was making her wince every few seconds. As soon as he was finished stitching her up, he wet a black wash rag and began to clean up her face and hands.
Once all of the blood was cleaned up, Nanala slipped on her new shirt, and Clint threw away her other one. The shirt was covered in blood, and there'd be no way she or Laura would be able to get it clean. After she was finished, Nanala went to her room and quickly grabbed the potion she needed to help with her pain.
"Are you hurt, Mummy?" Henry asked, but the woman shook her head.
"No, Papa fixed me up," She replied, and he smiled.
"I'm sorry I hurt you," He murmured, causing the girl to pull him into a hug.
"I know you didn't mean it, darling," She said, kissing the top of his head.
Nanala and Henry sat with the Barton family to eat breakfast. Nanala's face was swollen a bit, but luckily she was able to eat without any issues. As they were eating breakfast, Clint recieved a phone call. He left the room, after catching the eye of Laura and Nanala.
"I thought you two were done with all the superhero stuff," Laura commented, as she and Nanala began to wash dishes.
"We are, we retired. They can't call us for help, since we refused to sign the Accords," Nanala replied, making Laura sigh.
"I wonder why they called Clint," She murmured, and Nanala bit her lip.
"It could simply be Nat. I mean, she could be telling him about what happened in Vienna. He and I were worried about what happened, and she probably knew, so she decided to call and tell us what we wanted to know," Nanala said, shrugging her shoulders.
Laura and Nanala had finished washing dishes by the time Clint came back into the room. Nanala could tell from the look on his face, their retirement was over. They didn't have anymore time to just be with their family and be normal. They had to go back to being superheroes, at least for one more battle.
"What is it this time? More big aliens?" Nanala asked, crossing her arms.
"Not quiet," He replied, shaking his head.
Nanala knew at that moment that she wasn't going to be too happy with his answer. Her suggestion had been a joke; she didn't see anything about aliens on the news, and she knew the news would definitely cover a story on aliens if there were some around. She somewhat wondered if whatever she and Clint were about to handle would've been better as aliens. She wasn't a fan of aliens, not after what they caused to her old home when she still lived with her friend Danielle.
Matter of fact, Nanala planned to go visit Danielle whenever she had the chance during her retirement. Retirement wasn't something Nanala had ever dealt with before, but it was somewhat relaxing to her. She and Clint were able to see their family more, and they were able to do regular people things. Obviously the two stayed up to date on their training and such, but they didn't have to do much if they hadn't wanted to.
It seemed now they didn't really have the choice. Nanala and Clint were back to being heroes, even if they didn't plan to be heroes anymore. Obviously the two would never leave people to die, but their love for their family was strong. Nanala just hoped this mission wasn't going to get her and Clint into trouble...
