The cool morning breeze against my skin is what wakes me up. I open my eyes with hopes of finding Vally next to me but there is no sight of him.
Sitting up straight while rubbing my eyes I remember last night. He was close to me. I was close to him. It's nothing much but it could be the beginning of a fresh start.
Perhaps what we needed was just to be in each other's arms and let every thing else follow. He made me realise how broken we are when apart and how together we are a team of Bonnie and Clyde.
The bathroom door opens and I lay down pretending to be asleep. I can hear the cupboards opening and closing. He must have taken a shower already.
That's when reality hits. It's our last day together. We both going out today. But then he'll be leaving for Rome. Without me. Guilt washes over me and all I can think of is a way of talking to him about how I feel.
I sit up quickly and look at him. "Good morning. Breakfast is on the table" he points at the tray filled with different types of untouched foods.
"You never ate?" I ask. He puts on his shirt and buttons it up.
"No appetite..." He says and stops moving as if wanting to say something but not knowing where to start. I just sit there staring at his back. He has lost some weight and his got some scars on his back.
"About last night.."
"About Rome..."We both say in unison. "You first" I say giving him the heads on. Did he also feel what I felt last night. Maybe it also changed his thoughts about us. I really need the good news now.
"Last night was...." He looks around trying to find the right words.
"Amazing?" I say. That's how it was. Amazing. He looks at me with a small smile that makes me smile wider.
"I was not going to say that but I'm okay with it. It's just that sometimes I feel lonely and remember the past" he says tapping his fingers on the lamp.
"And the thunder makes it worse" I say getting up and fixing the bed sheets so that he doesn't see how his words affected me.
"Look Brittney. I feel like it's not me anymore. I'm just one soul that deserves everything coming they way" he says and I stop.
"No matter how bad we are everyone deserves some love" I say not daring to turn and face him. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. To soften him up and give him the love he thinks he doesnt deserve.
"I had that but messed it up" he says and then walks out of the room as the air is getting awkward for him. I sigh and go to the bathroom. I take a long hot shower. After that I drape myself in the pink fluffy towel.
There's a knock on the door and in comes Roselle. "I bought you some clean clothes. We could go out today. Who knows" she hands me the folded clothes.
"Thanks" I say taking a look at what she got for me.
"These tights look new" I say unfolding it and she giggles a little.
"Yesterday me and Mike went shopping and thought we should gift our victim for not calling the cops and being on her best behavior" she says and we both laugh.
"What can I say? My kidnappers treated me well. They fed me three times a day, gave me a bed, a bathroom and the best service... It was more like paradise" I say walking out with her behind me giggling.
"And my roommate and I talked things out" I put the clothes on the bed. Her eyes go wide in excitement and I join her.
"So, you guys a couple again?" She asks eagerly.
