Mine, again -
I held him for another night,
Stout on my breath,
Kisses across his neck.
An evening spent
Tangled together,
Beneath the sheets,
An unspoken sort of fervour
In his eyes.
It was as though I loved him,
Just for the night;
Just as I did once before...
It was as though I loved him,
But - come the morning -
He did not kiss me goodbye.
I loved him just
For the night.
