Rafe

It's been two damn days since Avery freaked the fuck out and lost her mind. I have no idea what the fuck she was going on about, but I think I have an idea.

Everything she said didn't make sense.. but then I went home that night and realized what she said. The Cameron's paid him to break into my house and steal my things.

I didn't do it and the way she gives Sarah everything she asks for, it only left one person. The only person who wanted to know everything about her and used every available resource to get that information.

Dad didn't even try to deny it when I asked him about it. He just shrugged his shoulders and said 'it was a part of business.'

'How is destroying my relationship with her a part of business?' I roared, but he waved me off, acting as if I was wrong. 'You finally did something right, Rafe. Now let it go and move on. We all will.'

The same roaring fire that burned through my veins when he said that, flares to life as I pull into her driveway. I know she's going to yell at me and possibly have that guy come after me again, but I'm ready. For her to yell and argue.. and for him to even think about touching me. It'll be the last thing he does before eating a bullet.

Knocking on the door, I listen for any sign that he's here. Her car is in the driveway, but she could've been picked up by Abbie or worse, my sister.

"I said I'm not babysitting for you to have sex on the beach, Abbie." She calls, a hint of laughter in her voice as she opens the door. I take the chance while her guard is down, slipping inside the house before she realizes I'm not Abbie.

"No! Get out, Rafe!" She shouts, swinging the door open and pointing out of it. "I made myself clear when I said don't come back here!"

"I didn't steal your things, Avery! It was my dad!" Her mouth opens, before clamping shut, her head jerking back. "Yeah." I step closer to her, her eye twitches. "Dad was the one who hired Barry to break in and take the chest. He wanted your money."

"I don't care. Get out!"

"Did you stop talking to Sarah?!" I step closer, crowding her space. "Did you tell her to stay away and never talk to you again? Because dad went to her first. He asked her questions and tried to get her to take the chest from you." Her eyes blink rapidly, but she says nothing.

I laugh to myself, nodding. I'm not sure what pisses me off more. The fact that she didn't cut Sarah off too or that she thought I was the only one dad tried to manipulate.

"Yeah.. he went to Sarah first. He tried to get her to give him some information, but she said no. Then he came to me."

"And you willingly did it." She snaps, cutting me off. Slamming the door shut, she glares up at me. "So how much did he promise to give you? The engagement ring was worth over two million and the stuff inside the chest was at least a hundred more. Why not pawn that too?!"

I jerk back, shocked.. and just surprised she has that much money lying around.

She laughs, shaking her head. "You had no idea there were a hundred million dollars of valuables in there, did you?" I shake my head, swallowing hard. "Million?"

"Yes, Rafe. Million. You could've sold literally anything else in there and got just as much, if not more." Her eyes search mine, before her body relaxes and she closes her eyes. "But you would've known that if you even looked inside of it."

"I didn't even know where the damn box was, Avery."

"Well Sarah did and I thought you might've seen it while you were staying here. I just assumed you snooped like her and knew how much it was worth."
