The air was knocked out of me, my thoughts coming to a screeching halt. "No, that was Rerek..." I had yet to forgive the demon for what he had done to my father, but he had helped me plenty of times to try and atone for what he had done back then.

Asmodeus shook his head, his lips pulled into a thin line. "Andromalius had tricked Rerek into working for him. Andromalius was the one who came up with the plan to kill your father and was the one that was behind the demon that went after him. Rerek was just the face of it to try and throw you off so he could take over. Andromalius had told Rerek if he helped with his plan then he would return enough power to Rerek for him to escape his prison."

"You're lying. All demons lie!" I yell out. There was just no way this was real. There was no way this was all planned from the moment I had come back to life. There was no way Rerek had actually planned my death with Andromalius.

I searched my mind once more for Rerek, he needed to start talking right now.

"Does any of that matter now? Your goal now is to end Andromalius before he can harm anyone else you care for. I want to help you reach that goal."

I let out a breathless laugh. "What's in it for you?" What could he gain from me ending Andromalius?

"Just a long-awaited revenge."

I narrowed my eyes, there was more to it than that. "You think I'm stupid, don't you? Why tell me all of this about Rerek and Andromalius? Why not get your own revenge? He is surely weaker than you right now."

"Like I said, there are rules we all must follow. What Andromalius did to me so many years ago isn't enough to warrant my killing him in Satan's eyes. He doesn't care for his demon lords dying, so his rules are very strict on what we may do to one another."

"What did the piece of shit do to you?" I shift my weight onto my other foot as I stare the demon lord down. My panic from earlier was far off somewhere in the back of my mind as anger took center stage after these discoveries.

"He killed my first love when we were all still building our own domains. As I am sure you know I am one of the weaker demon princes, I was in no shape to face him back when it had happened, and once we had all established our domains Satan put his rules into place for us since he would never be able to make demons as strong as us ever again. He wants us all alive for when he decides to face God once more."

I snort and shake my head, demons were all cocky. "So that's all you want out of our deal, Andromalius dead? That's it surely you could have found someone else to do this for you?"

"You're the perfect person for this task. You have your own reasons to take him down and you do not belong solely to any realm, so their rules do not apply to you."

"What's to keep Satan from coming after me for killing one of his demons?" Of course, I had thought this over, but I wanted to hear what information he had to give me. I knew I was running a risk of anyone from hell coming after me, but I would face them as they came. And now, I may have a demon prince on my side. Though of course, I couldn't fully count on a demon having my back, no matter their rank or power, they were all slippery snakes.

"He has no rule over you and Andromalius has killed your whole family. Satan does allow one revenge if blood relatives have been harmed."

"This is all so fishy. You just pop up in the middle of an import mission, kidnap me, dumb all of this on me, and offer your help with taking down a fellow demon lord over a loved one that was killed thousands of years ago? You see where I may be a little hesitant about accepting your offer, not to mention you're a demon. Like I can trust any of you." If what he was saying was true Rerek had lied to me and was working with the same demon he has been helping me train to kill. How did I know Rerek wasn't still trying to plan my downfall?
