Delilah and JJ wandered through the hardware store, Delilah pushing a cart while JJ sipped on a fresh pink lemonade drink from the coffee shop because it was getting hot in Virginia this summer.
"Have you decided on a theme?" Delilah asked, looking at the aisles of paint and wallpaper.
They were picking up things for the nursery that they needed to start decorating. Especially after Delilah had woke up this morning and found that Liv had practically bought half a mall's worth of baby things that would need a home, and she had ordered them the crib and the pram.
"I don't know," JJ said. "I don't want anything too overwhelming, and I don't want anything too cringey."
"Cringey?" Delilah said, raising an eyebrow.
"Like... Very over the top and in your face? I don't want it to be beige and basic. In the middle. Somewhere calm and soothing to be when we're sleep deprived and the baby is crying in the middle of the night," JJ said.
"Okay, so, the colour blue would fit," Delilah said. "Blue promotes feelings of calmness and can soothe emotions. It also holds symbolism of the sea, and the sky, and most people find the beach and the sky beautiful and calming, too."
"Okay, then we do the sea and the sky," JJ nodded.
"What kind of sea and sky?" Delilah asked.
"Well... We can paint stars on the ceiling, like Em did for Ziggy," JJ said, looking at Delilah for approval. "It'll be cute, and we can paint their star sign constellation on there for them, and the north star."
"That will be cute," Delilah smiled softly. "And the sea?"
"Like... Under the sea, with octopuses and starfish and turtles and fish and stuff," JJ said. "And bubbles! It'll be really cute!"
It would be adorable. Delilah also knew how to crochet sea animals because Dylan had loved sea animals, thanks to his name meaning son of the sea. She thought she could probably crochet octopus and sea turtle baskets for the baby's things, too, 'cause it wasn't that hard to follow the pattern Nora had made years ago.
And the baby blankets she was making would go really cute with the whole theme of the room.
"Okay, let's go and pick paint shades and see if there's any cute wallpaper or if we're doing it by hand," Delilah said.
