Seungmin never liked to admit when he was wrong. His pride often clashed with his sharp tongue, and tonight was no different. It had started with a small misunderstanding, a misstep in communication that spiraled into a full-blown argument. His words had cut deep, sharper than he intended, but once the anger took root, he couldn't stop himself. The members of Stray Kids were used to his sarcasm, his dry humor, but tonight, the line was crossed.
"Do you really think we have time for this?" Seungmin snapped, glaring at Hyunjin, who had been talking to him about a schedule mix-up. "You always get upset over the smallest things, but I guess that's just your thing, huh?"
"I'm just trying to help!" Hyunjin's voice was tight with frustration. "You don't have to be so difficult all the time, Seungmin."
"Maybe if you actually listened, I wouldn't have to be!" Seungmin shot back, crossing his arms. The tension in the room thickened, the usual playful atmosphere now replaced with anger.
The others tried to intervene, but it only made things worse. Jeongin, always the peacemaker, stepped forward, but Seungmin wasn't ready to back down.
"You're spending all your time with Beomgyu, Heeseung and Jimin," Seungmin spat, his voice growing more bitter with every word. "Every time I try to hang out, you're talking about him. Why don't you just go and leave me alone?"
Jeongin's face twisted in shock and confusion. "What are you talking about? I'm here, trying to fix things with you—"
"Well, maybe you should go talk to him instead," Seungmin interrupted, turning away, not wanting to face the hurt he saw in Jeongin's eyes. "I'm tired of being the one everyone ignores, I'm tired of all this."
And just like that, the room fell silent. The anger that had been simmering finally burst open. Seungmin's words cut deeper than any fight he'd had before, and Jeongin's shoulders slumped, his face clouded with pain.
"I didn't mean it like that," Seungmin whispered after the fight had ended, but the damage was done. Jeongin wouldn't listen to him, retreating to his room. The cold silence between them weighed heavily.
The next morning, the tension between Seungmin and the others was palpable. Every glance from Jeongin felt like a reminder of the things Seungmin had said—things he didn't fully mean, but couldn't take back now. He tried to ignore it, to push the guilt away, but it lingered in the back of his mind.
As the day wore on, the frustration in Seungmin's chest only grew. He couldn't focus on the schedule, couldn't focus on the music. Every time Jeongin or Hyunjin spoke, it felt like a dagger in his heart. The guilt gnawed at him, and yet he couldn't bring himself to apologize. His pride and stubbornness kept him trapped in his own emotions.
When evening came, and they were all in the living room after practice, Seungmin couldn't take the silence any longer.
"I.N-ah," he started softly, not meeting his friend's eyes. "I didn't mean what I said yesterday. I was just angry."
But Jeongin didn't respond. He sat there, staring blankly at the TV, arms crossed, not giving Seungmin the satisfaction of an apology or even a glance.
Seungmin's heart sank. He had expected this, but it didn't make it hurt any less. "You don't have to forgive me, but I didn't mean it. I just—" His voice broke, and he stopped, swallowing the lump in his throat. But no matter how hard he tried, the words wouldn't come. He couldn't make things right.
The silence between them grew heavier, and Seungmin felt like he was suffocating.
"Please, just talk to me," Seungmin whispered, his voice trembling with desperation.
