The airport was chaos, as always. Fans crowded every available space, holding banners and shouting the names of their favorite ZEROBASEONE members. The group, accompanied by their security team, moved briskly through the terminal, their faces hidden behind masks and sunglasses.

Jiwoong walked near the back of the group, his sharp eyes scanning the crowd. As the eldest member, he felt a sense of responsibility for the younger ones, especially when the fans' excitement turned overwhelming. Ricky walked beside him, clutching the strap of his bag tightly, his posture stiff.

“Ricky, relax,” Jiwoong said, his voice calm but firm. “We’ll be at the gate soon.”

“I know,” Ricky muttered, his voice strained. “I just don’t like it when they get too close.”

Jiwoong’s gaze flicked to the fans pressed against the barriers. Some were waving their phones in the air, trying to snap a picture, while others called out loudly. But there were a few whose intensity unsettled him—eyes that lingered a little too long, hands that reached a little too far.

“It’s okay,” Jiwoong reassured him, subtly positioning himself between Ricky and the crowd. “I’ve got you.”

As they neared the security checkpoint, Jiwoong noticed her. A woman in a gray hoodie stood apart from the others, her hood pulled low over her face. Unlike the fans screaming and waving, she remained silent, her gaze fixed on Ricky with unnerving intensity.

Jiwoong’s instincts kicked in. Something about her was off.

“Stay close to me,” he whispered to Ricky, who looked up at him in confusion.

“What’s wrong?”

“Just do it,” Jiwoong said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

The woman moved suddenly, pushing her way through the barriers. The crowd erupted in chaos as she broke past security, a glint of metal in her hand catching the light.

“Ricky!” she screamed, her voice shrill and desperate. “You can’t ignore me!”

Everything happened at once. Jiwoong grabbed Ricky and pushed him behind him, stepping into the woman’s path. Her hand swung out, the knife slashing through the air.

Pain exploded in Jiwoong’s side as the blade sank into his abdomen. He staggered but didn’t fall, his hand instinctively pressing against the wound. The woman screamed again, but security tackled her before she could strike a second time.

Ricky froze, his eyes wide with shock as blood began to seep through Jiwoong’s shirt.

“Hyung!” Ricky’s voice broke through the chaos, raw with fear.

Jiwoong forced a weak smile, his knees buckling. “Are you okay?”

“Me? You’re—” Ricky’s words choked off as Jiwoong collapsed to the ground.

The scene descended into chaos. Fans screamed, phones capturing every second of the horrifying incident. Security formed a protective barrier around the members as paramedics rushed to Jiwoong’s side.

“Hyung!” Ricky knelt beside Jiwoong, his hands trembling as he pressed them against the wound. Blood soaked through his fingers, warm and sticky.

“Ricky,” Jiwoong gasped, his voice barely audible. “It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not okay!” Ricky shouted, tears streaming down his face. “You’re bleeding! Why did you do that?”

Jiwoong’s head lolled to the side, his breathing shallow. “Because... I had to.”
