Reunion Gone Wrong (Kang Daniel)

It was a warm evening in Seoul, and Kang Daniel was eager to reunite with his fellow Wanna One members. Although the group had long since disbanded, the bond they shared had never broken, and whenever they came together, it was like no time had passed. Tonight’s dinner was to mark the anniversary of their debut, a moment they could all look back on fondly, and despite their busy schedules, this gathering was something they had all made time for.

As Daniel entered the restaurant, the familiar faces of his members greeted him warmly. His heart swelled with affection, and for the first time in a while, he felt at ease. The stress of his solo career, the busy schedules, the constant pressure—it all seemed to fade away when he was surrounded by people who truly understood him.

“We made it! It feels like forever since we’ve been able to do this!” Jihoon exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement as he waved Daniel over.

“Right? I’ve missed this,” Daniel responded, walking over to the table with a wide grin on his face.

They all gathered around a large table in a cozy private room, a private corner of the restaurant where they could talk freely, laugh, and reminisce without worrying about the watchful eyes of the public. The waitstaff quickly brought out a large assortment of food, filling the table with plates of grilled meats, vegetables, rice, and more. The members chatted animatedly, exchanging stories about what they had been up to since their last gathering. It was comfortable, easy—just a group of friends catching up.

Among the various dishes, one particular plate caught Daniel’s eye. It was a beautifully presented dish with a mixture of rice, grilled vegetables, and what appeared to be tender slices of meat. He felt his stomach growl in anticipation, and without a second thought, he grabbed a pair of chopsticks and dug in.

“This looks so good,” Daniel said, lifting a bite to his mouth. He didn’t recognize it at first, but the flavors were bold and savory. He was too hungry to question what was in the dish and too eager to dive into the conversation.

As he took another bite, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat. It wasn’t anything alarming at first, but he figured it was just a small irritation. He kept eating, not wanting to interrupt the flow of the conversation. However, with each passing moment, the discomfort seemed to grow. A slight itching sensation started to spread along the back of his throat, and his chest felt heavier, as though a weight was slowly pressing down on him.

“Hey, you okay, Daniel-hyung?” Jihoon asked, noticing Daniel's sudden quietness. He had been so animated just moments ago, but now his face was a little pale, and his hand was nervously rubbing his throat.

“Yeah, I think I just ate something a little too spicy,” Daniel replied, trying to brush off his growing unease. He took a gulp of water, but the discomfort didn’t go away. In fact, it only seemed to get worse. The itch spread to his lips, his face starting to flush. His breath became shallow, and a sense of panic rose in him.

“Maybe you should slow down,” Woojin suggested, his brow furrowing with concern as he observed his friend’s growing discomfort. “You don’t look too good.”

Daniel nodded, his heart racing. He forced a smile, hoping his friends wouldn’t notice just how much he was struggling. He set down his chopsticks and reached for another glass of water, but the feeling in his throat was becoming unbearable. His skin was starting to itch, too, and his eyes were watering slightly. This isn’t good, he thought to himself, but he didn’t want to cause a scene.

“Just a minute,” Daniel mumbled. He excused himself from the table, making his way toward the restroom, hoping that some fresh air would help him shake off the feeling. He hadn’t had an allergic reaction in a while, but his seafood allergy had always been something that could strike unpredictably. He hadn’t thought to ask what was in the dish before he started eating, and now he was paying the price for his carelessness.
