The Quirky Collector (Minjae)

Minjae was a man of many talents—leader, composer, dancer, rapper, and vocalist. Yet, among all his impressive qualities, one trait stood out most endearingly: his love for collecting lip balm. His collection had started innocuously enough—he'd simply needed something for his dry lips during long practice hours. But over time, it had turned into a full-blown hobby.

Minjae's collection wasn't just vast; it was eclectic. His shelves displayed everything from plain drugstore chapsticks to high-end luxury balms. There were rare themed ones too, like the Scott Hamish Courage Lip Balm & Case Set and the Amore Mall X Hive Bonbongi Tinted Lip Balm. Whenever he found a unique balm, his face lit up like a kid discovering treasure.

Naturally, his members found endless amusement in this habit. "Leader by day, lip balm connoisseur by night," Junghoon had joked once, sending the others into fits of laughter. But they secretly admired Minjae's dedication to such a niche interest.

As Minjae's birthday approached, his members—Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Junghoon, Seeun, Hunter, Yujun, and Yechan—hatched a plan. This year, they would go all out to surprise him with the ultimate gift: an upgraded lip balm collection.

To make it extra special, they reached out to Minjae's closest friends outside the group—Hongjoong from Ateez, his role model, Jungwon from Enhypen, and Taeyoung from Cravity. Together, they pooled their ideas and resources to curate the most unique collection imaginable.

The members divided the task:

Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik tracked down the luxurious Chanel Hydra Beauty Lip Balm, one of Minjae's long-time wishlist items.
Hyunwoo, Junghoon, Hunter added a quirky balm shaped like a mini microphone, a nod to Minjae's love for performing.
Seeun, Yujun, Yechan found the elusive Sailor Moon Miracle Romance balm. "It's rare," he said proudly, "but Minjae deserves it."
Hongjoong, Jungwon, Taeyoung contributed a handcrafted balm from small artisans from all around South Korea.

Each tube came with a handwritten note explaining why it was chosen, filled with heartfelt appreciation for Minjae.

On Minjae's birthday, the dorm was abuzz with excitement. The team presented their gift—a massive, beautifully wrapped box—and watched as Minjae unwrapped it. His reaction was priceless.

"Are you serious?" he exclaimed, eyes wide as he pulled out tube after tube. He carefully read each note aloud, laughing and tearing up in equal measure.

The room erupted in laughter. His members teased him about the seriousness of his declaration, but they were all secretly pleased to have made him so happy.

"Hyung, you're seriously taking notes?" Seeun asked, peering over his shoulder.

"Of course!" Minjae replied, unbothered. "This is important."

Every evening, the members gathered for a dramatic recap of his findings. Minjae would wax poetic about the luxurious feel of the Chanel balm or the nostalgic scent of a strawberry-flavored one.

The members loved this new ritual, though they teased him relentlessly. "You should start a lip balm blog," Yujun quipped one night, earning a round of laughter.

Two weeks into his testing spree, Minjae's enthusiasm hadn't waned. On a particularly busy day, he reached for a colorful, swirled lip balm that smelled like candy floss. It wasn't one of the meticulously labeled ones from his birthday gift, but he assumed it must've been part of the new collection.
