The latest season of EN'OCLOCK had been a hit with fans, showcasing a season-long theme of indulging in each member's passions. From Heeseung's ramyun-tasting episode to Niki's explosive dance competition, the episodes had been packed with laughter, chaos, and moments of camaraderie. The final episode, dedicated to Sunghoon's beloved sport of ice skating, had been highly anticipated by both the members and fans alike.
Sunghoon had spent days preparing for the event, selecting the rink, choreographing a special routine, and planning games for his fellow members. His excitement was palpable as the group arrived at the ice rink early that morning.
"It's finally my turn to shine," Sunghoon grinned, lacing up his skates with practiced ease.
"Don't get too full of yourself," Heeseung teased, but there was warmth in his voice.
"Yeah, Sunghoon," Jake chimed in, struggling to tighten his skates. "We're all skating legends in the making. Watch out."
Sunghoon chuckled. "We'll see about that. Just try not to fall too much."
The episode started with lighthearted fun as the members adjusted to the ice. Sunghoon gracefully glided across the rink, giving them pointers and offering encouraging words. For most of them, skating was a novelty, and it showed.
"Sunghoon-ah, how do you make it look so easy?" Jay complained, wobbling on his feet.
"It's all about balance and confidence," Sunghoon explained, skating backward effortlessly.
The first game of the day was a relay race. Despite their shaky starts, the members were determined to give it their all. Sunghoon's speed and control on the ice left the others in awe as he zoomed past them, but it also made him a prime target during the games.
"Let's get him!" Niki shouted during a game of tag, rallying the others to corner Sunghoon.
Laughing, Sunghoon weaved through the group with practiced ease. "Catch me if you can!"
After the initial chaos, the group took a break to watch Sunghoon perform a skating routine he'd choreographed to their song "No Doubt." The rink fell silent as Sunghoon took his place at the center, his movements a blend of elegance and precision.
The members watched in awe, their usual teasing replaced with genuine admiration.
"He's incredible," Jungwon murmured.
"He's like a real prince," Sunoo added, his eyes sparkling.
As Sunghoon completed his final spin, the group erupted into cheers. Even Niki, who rarely gave out compliments freely, clapped enthusiastically.
"That was amazing," Heeseung said as Sunghoon skated toward them, slightly out of breath but beaming with pride.
Feeling energized, the group decided to end the day with a race. Sunghoon took the lead easily, gliding ahead of the pack. He glanced back occasionally, laughing as the others struggled to keep up.
"You're too fast!" Jake shouted, his voice echoing through the rink.
However, Sunghoon noticed that not everyone was having an easy time. Sunoo and Jay were lagging, their movements cautious and unsteady. Jake, despite his enthusiasm, was starting to lose control, his legs wobbling dangerously.
Heeseung, ever the daredevil, decided to show off by skating backward, unaware that he was heading straight for Sunoo and Jay.
"Hyung, watch out!" Jungwon called, but it was too late. Heeseung collided with them, sending both Sunoo and Jay sprawling onto the ice.
The chain reaction was instantaneous. Jake, startled by the crash, flailed his arms and legs, his skates scraping against the ice as he careened toward Jungwon, who had been resting near the edge of the rink.
Sunghoon's instincts kicked in. He could see the panic in Jake's eyes and knew he had to act quickly. Skating at full speed, he intercepted Jake just as the older member was about to lose control completely.
"Jake, I've got you!" Sunghoon shouted, reaching out to steady him.
But Jake, in his panic, couldn't stop flailing. As Sunghoon grabbed him, Jake's skate blade caught Sunghoon's arm, slicing through his sleeve and leaving a deep, bloody gash.
Sunghoon winced but didn't let go. He used his strength to guide Jake back to balance, ignoring the searing pain in his arm.
"Hoonie, are you okay?" Jake asked, his voice trembling as he finally stopped.
Before Sunghoon could respond, Sunoo's voice rang out, sharp and alarmed. "Sunghoon-hyung! You're bleeding!"
The others skated over quickly, their faces pale as they saw the blood dripping from Sunghoon's arm onto the ice.
"Sunghoon-hyung, sit down!" Jungwon urged, already pulling off his scarf to wrap around the wound.
"I'm fine," Sunghoon insisted, though his face was slightly pale.
"You're not fine," Heeseung said firmly. "We're taking you to the hospital. No arguments."
The members piled into the van, Sunghoon cradling his injured arm as they drove to the nearest hospital. Despite his protests that it wasn't serious, the others refused to take any chances.
At the hospital, the doctor confirmed that Sunghoon had a deep cut that required seven stitches. While the doctor worked on stitching him up, the other members hovered anxiously in the waiting room.
Jake and Heeseung, in particular, were wracked with guilt.
"I shouldn't have skated backward," Heeseung muttered. "If I hadn't crashed into Sunoo and Jay, none of this would've happened."
"And I shouldn't have panicked," Jake added, his voice barely above a whisper. "If I hadn't flailed like that, Sunghoon wouldn't have gotten hurt."
When Sunghoon finally rejoined them, his arm bandaged and his usual smile back in place, he immediately reassured them.
"Stop blaming yourselves," he said, his tone firm but kind. "Accidents happen. I'm fine, really."
"But—" Jake started, only for Sunghoon to cut him off.
"No buts," Sunghoon said. "If anything, I'm just glad no one else got hurt. That's all that matters."
Back at the dorm, the members took it upon themselves to make sure Sunghoon didn't overexert himself. Sunoo and Jungwon monitored his every move, while Heeseung and Jay took over his usual chores.
"You're not lifting a finger," Jay declared, shooing Sunghoon away from the kitchen.
Niki, though initially teasing, also showed his concern in his own way. "Hyung, you better not bust your stitches. If you do, you're going to owe me bubble tea for a month."
Jake, still feeling guilty, hovered around Sunghoon constantly, offering to get him anything he needed.
"Jake, I'm not an invalid," Sunghoon said with a laugh, though he appreciated the gesture.
"You're too nice about this, Sunghoon," Jake replied. "If it were me, I'd be complaining non-stop."
"That's because I'm tougher than you," Sunghoon teased, ruffling Jake's hair with his uninjured hand.
As Sunghoon healed, the group grew even closer. The incident, though scary, had reminded them of how much they cared for one another.
"Next time, let's just stick to something safer," Jungwon suggested during dinner one evening.
"Like what?" Sunoo asked. "Knitting?"
The room burst into laughter, the tension from the past few days finally lifting.
Despite the challenges, Sunghoon wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Seeing his members rally around him, their concern and care evident in every small action, made him realize just how much they truly were a family.
And if he had to step in harm's way to protect them again, he wouldn't hesitate for a second.
