Lee Know wasn’t someone who ignored his body. Years of training had taught him to recognize the first signs of fatigue or strain. But tonight, as the group shared a meal with staff, he found himself brushing aside the faint discomfort in his stomach.

The restaurant was lively, with conversations weaving between the members and staff. Hyunjin, ever the social butterfly, was perched on the edge of his seat, laughing at something Han said. Lee Know, on the other hand, sat quietly, poking at his food.

Felix nudged him. “Hyung, you okay? You’re not eating much.”

Lee Know forced a smile. “I’m fine. Just saving my energy for tomorrow.”

Felix didn’t look convinced but let it go. The younger member returned to his conversation with Jeongin, while Lee Know pushed his plate away, a strange bitterness lingering on his tongue.

Back at the dorm, the discomfort grew. By midnight, it was unmistakable: cramps that twisted his stomach into knots, waves of nausea that left him light-headed, and a creeping fever that made his skin feel both clammy and hot.

Still, he told himself it would pass. Tomorrow was too important—a live stage performance they’d prepared for weeks. Missing it wasn’t an option.

Morning came too quickly. The nausea was still there, along with a pounding headache and a bone-deep exhaustion. But Lee Know pulled himself out of bed, splashing cold water on his face in a futile attempt to wake up.

The car ride to the venue passed in a blur. The other members chatted around him, excitement buzzing in the air, but Lee Know leaned against the window, his eyes closed.

Bang Chan noticed first. “Lee Know, are you sure you’re okay? You look pale.”

“I’m fine,” Lee Know mumbled.

The leader frowned but didn’t press further. He trusted Lee Know to speak up if it was serious.

Rehearsals began, and Lee Know felt every movement like a test of endurance. His body was sluggish, his steps slightly off-beat, and the lights overhead seemed to intensify his dizziness.

By the third run-through, the world began to tilt. He tried to steady himself, blinking rapidly to clear his vision, but it was no use.

“Lee Know-hyung!” Jeongin’s voice cut through the music as Lee Know crumpled to the floor.

The room descended into chaos. Felix was the first to reach him, his hands shaking as he touched Lee Know’s forehead. “He’s burning up,” he said, panic rising in his voice.

Bang Chan knelt beside him, his own worry carefully masked. “Get water. Now.”

Seungmin ran to grab a bottle while Hyunjin hovered nearby, his eyes wide with fear.

“Hyung, can you hear me?” Hyunjin asked, his voice trembling.

Lee Know’s eyes fluttered open, his face pale and drenched in sweat. “Sorry…”

“Don’t apologize,” Bang Chan said firmly. “You’re not fine, and we need to get you help.”

The staff called for medics, and within minutes, Lee Know was being assessed. Severe dehydration, they said, coupled with a suspected case of food poisoning. He needed to go to the hospital immediately.

As the medics helped Lee Know to his feet, he turned to the members. “The performance… I’ll be fine by then.”

“No, you won’t,” Changbin said, his voice uncharacteristically sharp. “You’re going to rest, hyung. We’ll handle it.”
