Vacations were a rarity for ENHYPEN. Between music show promotions, dance practices, interviews, and constant travel, there was barely time to breathe, let alone relax. So, when their management announced a weeklong cruise, the group was overjoyed.

“A cruise?” Sunghoon had asked, incredulous.

“Yes, a cruise!” Jake had cheered, clapping Sunghoon on the back. “A real vacation! No rehearsals, no interviews, no alarms!”

For Niki, the group’s maknae, the news was almost too good to be true. He had spent the previous night scrolling through pictures of cruise ships, dreaming about the endless food, games, and open sea. He had never been on one before, and he couldn’t wait to explore every inch of the floating city.

“I’m going to try everything,” Niki declared the morning they set off, his excitement bubbling over as they boarded the massive ship. “The arcade, the pool, karaoke night—everything!”

“Calm down, Niki,” Jungwon chuckled, ruffling his hair. “We’ve got a whole week.”

The first day on the ship was nothing short of magical. The sun was shining, the water sparkled like diamonds, and the ship itself was massive, with countless restaurants, activities, and lounges to explore.

Niki led the charge, dragging the others from the observation deck to the arcade, then to the pool. He darted from place to place, pointing out every interesting thing he saw. His excitement was infectious, and the older members couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm.

“Slow down, Niki!” Heeseung called as Niki ran toward the buffet.

“Can’t slow down!” Niki shouted back, laughing. “We’ve only got seven days!”

The others laughed, following at a more leisurely pace.

That evening, the ship departed from port, the engines thrumming gently beneath their feet as they stood on the upper deck. The coastline disappeared into the horizon, replaced by the endless expanse of ocean.

Niki leaned against the railing, watching the water churn below. The salty breeze ruffled his hair, and for a moment, he felt completely at peace.

But as the ship began to sway with the waves, a strange feeling settled in his stomach. At first, he thought it was just excitement or the heavy lunch he had eaten earlier, but as the evening wore on, the discomfort grew.

By dinner, Niki could barely touch his food.

“You’re not eating?” Sunoo asked, frowning as he noticed Niki pushing his plate away.

“I’m just not that hungry,” Niki mumbled, forcing a smile.

By the next morning, the excitement that had fueled Niki was replaced by a persistent queasiness. He woke up feeling groggy and off-balance, the gentle rocking of the ship now feeling more like a violent lurch.

He barely made it to the bathroom in time.

Leaning over the toilet, Niki tried to steady his breathing. His stomach churned, and waves of nausea left him shaky and weak.

He splashed cold water on his face and looked at his reflection in the mirror. His face was pale, his eyes slightly sunken.

“Get it together,” he muttered to himself. “It’s just seasickness.”

Determined not to let his condition ruin the trip, Niki returned to bed and tried to sleep it off.

For the next two days, Niki’s condition worsened. He avoided large meals, opting for crackers and water, but even those were hard to keep down. The constant rocking of the ship left him dizzy and disoriented, and he spent most of his time lying in bed, staring at the ceiling.
