Johnny slouched into the couch in the NCT dorm living room, running a hand through his damp hair. The shower he'd just taken had been refreshing after a gruelling day of practice. Mark and Ten, the only other members in the dorm that day, were both busy—Mark was working on a new song in his room, and Ten was sprawled on the floor sketching designs in his notebook.
Johnny felt unusually at ease. With only Mark and Ten around, he didn't bother with his usual habit of ensuring his hip towel was perfectly placed to conceal his birthmark. He knew they wouldn't make a big deal about it; they were the only ones who even knew about it.
He leaned back, exhaling deeply, savoring the moment of peace.
The next morning, Johnny was scrolling through his phone when his heart stopped.
A photo of him—in the shower—was plastered all over social media.
The image was unmistakably him: damp hair, bare torso, water streaming down his skin, and most horrifyingly, the birthmark on his hip visible for the world to see.
He dropped his phone, his chest tightening. The birthmark was a deeply personal insecurity, one he had gone to great lengths to hide. And yet, it was now the center of a viral storm.
Waves of nausea hit him as realization dawned. This photo had to have been taken last night. The only two people here were...
Johnny clenched his fists, his mind racing. It couldn't be Mark. It couldn't be Ten. And yet, they were the only ones there.
The confrontation was immediate.
Johnny stormed into the living room, his face twisted with fury. Mark looked up from his laptop, startled, and Ten set his sketchpad aside, eyebrows raised.
"What the hell is this?" Johnny hissed, thrusting his phone at them.
Mark squinted at the screen, his face paling as he took in the image. "Is that... you?!"
"Of course, it's me!" Johnny snapped. "And unless there's a ghost with a camera, one of you took it."
Ten stood up, his expression incredulous. "You think we did this?"
"Who else could it be?" Johnny demanded. "You're the only ones who were here! I trusted you!"
Mark stumbled over his words, shaking his head. "Johnny, no—why would I do something like that? That's insane!"
"Exactly," Ten added, his tone sharp. "You know us better than that."
But Johnny wasn't listening. His trust felt shattered, his thoughts clouded by the humiliation of his vulnerability being exposed.
"I can't believe this," he muttered, shaking his head. "I don't even know who you guys are anymore."
He stormed out of the room, leaving Mark and Ten stunned in his wake.
The days that followed were tense and isolating.
Johnny avoided Mark and Ten like the plague, throwing himself into schedules to escape the oppressive atmosphere in the dorm. Mark, normally bright and talkative, became quiet and withdrawn. Ten, though he put on a brave face, often sat in silence, his sketchpad abandoned.
Johnny's paranoia grew. He double-checked every lock, covered every camera, and flinched at every sound in the dorm. He couldn't sleep without constantly worrying that there was another betrayal waiting to happen.
The turning point came one evening when Johnny returned to an empty dorm.
The silence was heavy, but he welcomed it. He went to his room, planning to unwind with some music when his phone buzzed with a notification.
Another photo of him in the shower had surfaced.
And this time, it wasn't just him.
Photos of Mark and Ten, equally vulnerable, had also been uploaded.
Johnny's blood ran cold. His breath hitched as the realization struck him like a truck: It wasn't Mark or Ten.
Someone else had taken these photos. Someone who had been inside their dorm.
A sasaeng.
Johnny's hands shook as he stared at the images. The room seemed to close in around him, the walls pressing in tighter and tighter. His breaths came in quick, shallow gasps.
Panic.
He needed to act, but every sound in the apartment now felt threatening. He couldn't risk alerting whoever might still be watching.
Johnny dialed Taeyong with trembling fingers.
"Johnny? What's wrong?" Taeyong's voice was steady but laced with concern.
Johnny's words tumbled out in a rush. "Taeyong, there's someone in the dorm—someone's been taking photos of us in the shower. It wasn't Mark or Ten. I—I don't know what to do."
Taeyong's tone shifted immediately, becoming authoritative and calm. "Listen to me, Johnny. Go into a room where you can lock the door. Don't make any noise. I'm calling the police and heading there right now."
Johnny stumbled into his bedroom, locking the door behind him. He sat on the floor, curling into himself as he tried to steady his breathing.
"I—I can't breathe," he whispered.
"It's okay, Johnny," Taeyong said over the phone. "I'm on my way. Focus on my voice. In and out, okay? Just breathe with me."
Johnny tried, but his chest felt like it was caving in.
"Johnny, stay with me. You're safe. I promise, you're safe."
By the time Taeyong arrived, the police were already at the dorm, combing through the space.
They found hidden cameras tucked into light fixtures, smoke detectors, and even inside decorative objects. The invasion of privacy was worse than Johnny could have imagined.
The sasaeng was caught shortly after, their identity revealed as someone who had disguised themselves as a cleaning staff member to gain access to the dorm.
The members moved into a new dorm that very night. The company acted swiftly to remove all traces of the leaked photos, and extra security measures were put in place to ensure such a breach would never happen again.
Johnny, Mark, and Ten sat together in the new living room, the weight of the incident still heavy in the air.
"I'm sorry," Johnny said finally, his voice hoarse. "I should have believed you. I let my fear get the better of me."
Mark gave him a small, understanding smile. "It's okay, hyung. I get why you were upset. This whole thing is messed up."
Ten leaned forward, his expression softer than usual. "We've all been through something horrible. Let's just focus on moving forward."
Johnny nodded, grateful for their forgiveness.
He looked at Mark and Ten, the people he had doubted most, and vowed to himself to never let fear cloud his trust in them again.
Together, they began to heal, leaning on each other as they moved past the nightmare, their bond stronger than ever.
