The night had been a blur for Allen—each moment flashing by in a whirlwind of cameras, smiles, and bright lights. The prestigious award show was supposed to be a dream come true for Cravity, but Allen felt out of place. He had been anticipating this night for weeks, but now, standing in the limelight, he felt like something was slipping from his grasp.
It started subtly. A little ache in his throat as Cravity made their red carpet appearance, a dull headache that he blamed on the bright lights and the stress of the night, but it was more than that. Something was wrong. His body was betraying him.
The closer he got to the main hall, the worse it became. His head pounded with every passing second, and the thick, burning sensation in his throat made it hard to breathe. He could feel the edges of his stomach twisting, a sickening churn that had only worsened as the night wore on.
The heavy noise of fans chanting and camera flashes wasn't enough to distract him from the fog in his mind. The dizziness came in waves, and he kept swallowing, trying to push it all away, but it wouldn't go. His body was failing him, but Allen was determined to keep going. He couldn't afford to show weakness—not in front of fans, not in front of other idols, not tonight.
By the time Stray Kids took the stage for their performance, Allen knew he had to get away. His stomach flipped and twisted again, and the urge to vomit was undeniable. He needed to get to the bathroom—fast. Without telling anyone, he slipped away, weaving through the backstage area, trying to keep his steps steady.
His legs were unsteady as he walked, his movements sluggish. Every step felt like a battle against his own body. He needed to get there before it got worse. The closer he got to the bathroom, the more his body began to give way. Each movement drained him further, and before he could take another step, his vision swam, and his knees buckled.
He tried to brace himself against the wall, but his strength was gone. His breathing was shallow and ragged, and he could feel himself falling, his body giving in to the exhaustion and illness.
"Allen?"
The familiar voice broke through his haze, pulling him back from the brink. He blinked rapidly, trying to clear the fog from his eyes, only to be met with the solid, comforting presence of Bang Chan. Allen's body seemed to relax at the sight of him, even though his legs were still too weak to stand on their own.
Before Allen could respond, Bang Chan's hands were on his shoulders, steadying him with a gentle but firm grip. The concern in Bang Chan's voice was unmistakable.
"Hey, what's going on? Are you okay?" His words were soft but filled with urgency.
Allen struggled to keep his balance, his breath coming in shallow gasps. "I... I need to... the bathroom..."
He managed to push away from Bang Chan's grasp for a moment, trying to stand on his own, but his legs betrayed him. He swayed dangerously, and just as he felt his body about to give way, Bang Chan caught him once again, his arm wrapping around Allen's waist in a supportive hold.
"No, no, you're not walking anywhere like this," Bang Chan said firmly, his voice now full of concern. "Let me help you."
Allen wanted to protest, to insist that he could handle it, but he was too weak to argue. His body simply wasn't listening. His throat felt like it was closing up, and he could feel the nausea rising again.
"You're really not looking good, Allen," Bang Chan continued, his face etched with worry. "I think you need to rest. Come on, let's get you somewhere safe."
Allen tried to shake his head, but his vision blurred again. He felt his knees weaken once more, and he leaned against Bang Chan, letting the taller man guide him down the hallway.
The sounds of the award show were muffled now, the cheering and music fading into the background as the group moved further away from the stage. Allen's body swayed in time with Bang Chan's movements, his arms around him providing an unspoken reassurance that Allen desperately needed right now.
They reached a quiet spot behind the stage, a secluded area where the noise from the main hall couldn't reach them. Bang Chan carefully helped Allen sit against the wall. The dizziness in Allen's head was overwhelming, and for a moment, he closed his eyes, trying to regain some semblance of control.
But before he could find any relief, the rest of Stray Kids arrived, having just finished their performance. Changbin was the first to notice, his gaze flicking over to the pair. When he saw how pale Allen was, his expression immediately shifted from excitement to concern.
"Allen?" Changbin's voice was sharp, laced with worry. He moved forward, his eyes scanning Allen's face. "What's going on? Are you alright?"
Lee Know was next, his steps quick as he approached, his usual playful demeanor replaced with seriousness. "He doesn't look good," Lee Know murmured, his gaze darting to Bang Chan and then back to Allen.
Hyunjin, always perceptive, knelt down beside Allen, his fingers brushing Allen's forehead. "He's burning up. What happened?"
"I don't know," Bang Chan said, his tone filled with concern. "He was fine earlier, but then he started feeling sick. I think he needs help."
Allen wanted to speak, to reassure them that he was okay, but his throat was dry, and the effort to speak felt impossible. Instead, he just closed his eyes again, leaning his head back against the cool wall.
"We need to get him checked out," Hyunjin said firmly, glancing at Bang Chan. "This is serious."
Felix, ever the calming presence, crouched next to Allen, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Allen-hyung. We're all here for you," he said softly, his voice filled with warmth.
Seungmin joined them, his brow furrowed in worry. "Should we call the manager or someone?"
Allen, still struggling to find his voice, tried to shake his head. He didn't want to cause any more trouble, didn't want to drag anyone into his personal mess. But his body was betraying him again, the dizziness worsening and his stomach churning violently.
Bang Chan, noticing the hesitation, turned to the group. "I'm going to call Serim," he said, his tone firm. "He needs to know."
Allen's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Serim's name. Serim, his leader, had always been the one to take care of him, the one who kept him grounded. Allen didn't want to worry Serim—he didn't want to disappoint him. But it was clear that he couldn't handle this alone.
Bang Chan stepped away for a moment, pulling out his phone. The sound of his voice became a distant hum as he spoke to someone on the other end of the line. Allen tried to focus, but his vision blurred once more, and he felt a wave of nausea rise in his chest. His body seemed to be shutting down, and all he could do was sit there, unable to stop it.
"Yeah," Bang Chan said, his voice coming through clearly now. "It's Allen. He's not feeling well, and he's struggling to stand. I think it's more serious than just being tired. Can you get here as soon as possible? We'll stay with him."
Allen's heart sank. He knew Serim would drop everything to come to his side, and it made him feel guilty. He didn't want to cause Serim any more stress.
When Bang Chan hung up, he turned back to Allen, his expression soft. "Serim's on his way. He'll be here soon."
The relief in Allen's chest was instant. He didn't have to say anything; Bang Chan understood what he was feeling. The weight of responsibility, the fear of letting others down—it all came rushing forward, but with his friends by his side, it didn't seem so overwhelming.
As the members of Stray Kids stayed by his side, Allen finally allowed himself to relax, knowing that he didn't have to keep fighting this on his own. They were here for him, and that was all that mattered.
His eyes fluttered closed as he leaned into the wall, the coolness of the surface providing a small comfort against the heat coursing through his body. For the first time in a long while, Allen allowed himself to be taken care of, and it was okay. He didn't have to carry the weight of everything on his own.
And soon, Serim would be there to help him carry it too.
