It was supposed to be a fun, light-hearted penalty for losing the Werewolf game. The four boys—Harua, K, EJ, and Jo—were all chosen to face the consequences: they had to bungee jump from a 50-meter-high platform. The tension in the air was thick with nervous excitement, and while the other members cheered, Harua couldn’t shake the sense of dread settling deep in his stomach. Heights had always been a deep, irrational fear for him, and standing before the massive platform made his legs feel like jelly.
As the group laughed and shouted words of encouragement, Harua could barely breathe, feeling the weight of the challenge pressing down on him. He had always been one to face his fears, but this one felt insurmountable. The platform loomed above them, tall and intimidating, and Harua couldn't help but wonder if he was about to make a huge mistake.
"Alright, EJ, Jo, you're up first," the staff called, and Harua's stomach dropped. He knew he couldn't back out, but it didn’t make facing it any easier.
EJ, ever the brave one, flashed his signature grin and gave a thumbs up. "This'll be a piece of cake!" he declared, though his voice trembled slightly with excitement.
His words were meant to reassure, but they only made Harua's fear grow. Every passing second felt like an eternity, and the closer it got to his turn, the more his legs felt like they were turning to jelly.
EJ was the first to step onto the platform, his confidence unwavering. He adjusted the harness, and before Harua could gather his thoughts, EJ was already taking the leap, shouting into the air as he fell. His body seemed to hang in mid-air for a moment before the bungee cord snapped taut, the force of the pull sending him soaring upward with a loud whoosh.
"You're up next, Jo!" one of the staff called, and Jo, always eager to follow EJ, quickly stepped forward. Jo’s face was filled with bold energy, but there was a hint of strain around his eyes. He was just as excited, but Harua noticed the slight hesitation before Jo jumped. When Jo finally took the leap, the realization hit Harua like a wave—his turn was hastily approaching. His pulse raced, and cold sweat began to bead on his forehead. He stepped forward, feeling his legs shake beneath him.
K, who had been standing quietly beside him, noticed the anxiety creeping into Harua’s posture and gave him a reassuring look. “You don’t have to do this if you’re really scared, Harua,” K said softly, his voice a calming balm amidst the chaos. “We’ll figure something else out if you want.”
But Harua knew it wasn’t that simple. The penalty had been set by the show, and backing out wasn’t an option. He couldn’t let his members down, especially not when they were all in this together. Still, the fear was suffocating, and his body felt like it was betraying him.
“I… I can’t,” Harua whispered, his voice breaking as the tightness in his chest made it harder to breathe.
K looked at him with understanding in his eyes. "Hey, it's okay. I’ll go first for you."
Before Harua could reply both EJ and Jo came back to where the others were sitting, and EJ was talking about how it was actually quite scary.
Harua froze. If EJ—his calm and composed leader—was scared, then Harua didn’t stand a chance. The realization hit him like a cold wave, and the overwhelming fear clawed at his chest. His body shook, and his legs felt like they might give out at any moment.
“I can’t do this!” Harua cried, the tears finally falling freely as panic overwhelmed him. "I can’t—I’m too scared!"
Before he could take another step back, K appeared at his side, pulling him into his arms. The force of the embrace steadied him as he trembled, his body wracked with quiet sobs.
“I know you’re scared, Harua,” K whispered gently, his hands rubbing soothing circles on Harua’s back. “It’s okay. I’m here with you. Just breathe.”
The other members rushed over to where Harua and K were standing, their presence giving Harua some small comfort. Nicholas, usually the playful one, placed a reassuring hand on Harua’s shoulder, his expression serious for once. “Harua, we’re all with you, okay? No one’s going to leave you to do this alone.”
