Getting together

It was a secret to everyone but Yoongi. It had been pretty clear what his feelings were the moment his eyes laid on Grace the moment the first meeting happened before the debut.

And it was clear to everyone but Grace and Yoongi that the two of them would end up together one day as they were so similar in their love of music, quiet spaces, tough exterior but soft on the inside.

However, the years went by and nothing ever happened.

Of course, the two became close and were known as the group's parents with Jin, who said he was more the uncle than anything. Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung treated Yoongi and Grace, especially as their parents.

Grace and Yoongi shared a close relationship from debut to the first daesang, winning Album of the Year at the 2016 Melon Awards, when behind the scenes, Grace cried in Yoongi's arms.

Now all bets were off - secret glances, slight touches, they were always next to each other in interviews whether it was intentional or not.

Secret conversations in private, especially in Yoongi's studio, about BTS' future. And what it meant for the two of them as individuals and possibly a couple.

It had become clear to Grace that Yoongi's feelings for her were real, she had been able to see that clearly from the way he acted around her in private and how he was protective of her in public. Her own personal bodyguard.

A honest conversation between the two of them as to what their relationship could possibly do to BTS, to ARMY, to the k-pop world now BTS were starting to gain proper attention especially when WINGS was released.

Many fans pointed out the sexual tension between Grace and Yoongi especially during Blood, Sweat and Tears and Yoongi's visible reaction to Dangerous Woman, Grace's solo for the WINGS album.

It led to a conversation between Grace, Yoongi, BTS, the Big Hit Team and lawyers. It was made clear - keep the relationship private, secret, and do your duty and if it affects the group in any way, it's over.

Being in a relationship

There seemed to be some kind of settled unity now Grace and Yoongi were in a relationship. Like all the pieces of the puzzle settled into place all of a sudden.

And true to their word, no one would suspect a thing though some ARMY were able to piece together Yoongi's lyrics on his mixtapes and in his solo BTS songs and connect them to Grace and her own lyrics.

But no one had a clue.

Even on the series Bon Voyage, RUN!BTS and then In the Soop - no one had a clue though little hints were given here and there.

For Grace and Yoongi, it allowed them to be real. To allow themselves a little bit of paradise, especially when there were times BTS could have a break and they could go away and enjoy themselves or work on music in their own private time.

And for the boys, nothing had changed other than they were more protective of questions towards Grace when it would hint she was only there for BTS as a thing, rather than a woman and a singer. Many articles would be printed when Namjoon or Jin or even Jungkook would point out that Grace was her own person with her own talents, her own voice and she completed the group in many ways that no one would understand.

It was hard for Yoongi not to pipe up and give his own thoughts because that's his woman, that's his love and he's watching her being destroyed on national TV because no one thinks BTS should have a female member who has a few lines here and there and is used more as a love interest.

It's hard and there are times Grace and Yoongi think 'is it worth it?'

But they push through and they're resilient.

When the news is released that they've been in a relationship for all these years, a week after Jin has enlisted, many many ARMY rejoice. After all these years, what they had seen and what they had believed, meant it was all real.

Future

Now Yoongi can release his solo album, D-Day and go on tour, and do his documentary. And Grace is there for every bit of it.

She's there for the album recording, she does some of the background vocals, she's there on set, she's there on tour and she even appears on stage to sing So Far Away.

There's a sense of relief now their out and in the open and the kpop world uses it to its full advantage. There are articles, programs and the like of how these two easily duped the world with their secrets.

And Yoongi is there, for the most part, for Grace's own solo career but the military is calling.

And off he goes, to be a social worker because of his shoulder. Another sore point for the couple where they had to be separated for two months and Grace had to take Yoongi's place in terms of his lyrics and position. It seemed natural for her to do so, which is why Namjoon suggested it.

Of course there's the whole drunk driving scandal and how it played out in the media. Yoongi had been riding home, to Grace, when he had taken a corner too quickly and landed on his front. And now it's become this whole thing where he's been ridiculed, slandered and protests demanding he be removed from BTS.

Yet, there's one person no one counted on - Grace.

She was there for his police interview, standing beside him. She was vocal over the media's portrayal of the event and as much as Big Hit told her to keep quiet, she didn't. Her social media became a tool where she could promote her own solo work, support BTS, support her man and call out those who continued to harass and slander.

And when Jin was released, he became her biggest supporter in this even if he didn't vocally say anything.

The only comfort is, Yoongi comes home to her every night after his work and when she's off her own tour, he's catching up with her whatever time it is.

In 2026, when the boys and Grace are back together, and the comeback is planned, the first thing Yoongi does is go out and buy the ring he's been planning to buy for years. And on stage, at the last concert of a very long tour, he finally proposes.
