SEOKJIN - Gyeongbokgung Palace
Of all the places they could perform in Korea, Grace was glad they had picked their current location. There were hidden places across South Korea that no one outside of South Korea would ever see and since this was a special performance for the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (because they couldn't go anywhere thanks to COVID), it seemed right that it would be in front of Geunjeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace.
They were all dressed in traditional hanboks, the boys were at least. For Grace, a traditional Korean hanbok would restrict movement necessary for IDOL and so they had given her a more modern hanbok but dressed to match the boy's hanboks.
"You look more Korean with the hanbok on," Seokjin commented as he watched the stylists fuss around Grace. There was a team of three women and two men, all surrounding Grace as they fixed her hair which had been styled to the more traditional Korean look and took care of her make up which had been more minimal.
"I think I would have looked more Korean in a traditional hanbok," Grace commented with a laugh as she stayed still, letting one of the ladies fix the waist of the dress. She had been sown into it and there had been tricks to keep the dress weighed down so it wouldn't fly up and reveal something they didn't need to see.
"Think they're going to change your title from England's Rose to Korea's Beauty?" he cheekily asked, causing Grace to reach out and gently jab at him.
"They call me Korea's Noona which is enough for me. Besides, not everyone is happy that I'm half Korean. Those people want me to give up my British citizenship," she sighed as finally the stylists left her alone.
"Performing IDOL in a traditional modern hanbok and in front of the Gyeongbokgung Palace? How Korean do you need to get?" Seokjin shook his head, knowing full well what some people said. "Bet," he suddenly said.
Grace raised an eyebrow at him, glancing towards the crew as they came over with microphones. "Go on."
"Once this performance is released, I bet the sales in modern hanboks go up because of you and it will be over the news."
She knew better than to bet against Seokjin but she nodded, holding out her hand for him to shake on it. "Loser has to make dinner for a week."
Seokjin grinned, shaking her hand. "Deal. Just wait and see."
She should never have bet against him.
YOONGI - Daegu Seomun Market
The line, "I'm D-Boy," resounded in Grace's head as she looked at the entrance to Seomun Market in Daegu. How she ended up in Daegu with Yoongi and the rest of the boys came down to the fact they had a few days off and since it was Yoongi's turn to visit his hometown, so did the rest of the gang as Taehyung also wanted to visit his somewhat hometown.
Grace had volunteered to go with Yoongi to the market, mostly because she had never been and because he wanted to go there for a look. It had been a while since he had been there since the fire in 2016, and since there was time, off the two went.
With masks and hats on, it wasn't hard to blend in with all the other Koreans as they mingled around the streets. Some die-hard fans would be able to tell who they were by their stance, but for now, it was just Yoongi and Hea, two Koreans in the market.
"Anything you particularly want to see?" she asked, following Yoongi closely down the main route of the market.
"I have nothing in mind; it's more a case of seeing what's still here and whether there's anything we can take home," he shrugged.
