You woke up before the sun rose, picking some flowers for the tables in the castle and then getting a basket of vegetables for the kitchen.

"Morning, (Y/N)," someone called when you walked into the kitchen. You waved, placing the basket where you put it every morning and walking towards the hallway of royals. King Uther was still asleep and you quietly took the old flowers and placed fresh ones in the vase. You walked the length of the castle to get to Arthur's room. He was sitting up in bed, eyes fixed on the closed shutters.

"Good morning, your majesty," you said, walking across the room and switching out the flowers, "Would you like me to open the shutters?"

"No... Actually, (Y/N), I was wondering if I could talk to you about something close to my heart." As soon as he said the words your mind wandered to the looks he gave Merlin.

"Yes?"

"Erm, I think I've fallen in love with someone, and I can't be in love with them. Everyone thinks they knew who it is, but it's not her..."

"You love Merlin," you said, without even batting an eyelash. Arthur looked surprised and nodded.

"How did you know?"

"Despite your best effort, it's very distracting when you stare at him for several hours a day," you laughed, "I've known you my whole life, I can tell when you're in love. You look at him the same way you look at the forest when you think of running away." Arthur sighed loudly and rolled over, burying his head in the pillows. You seated yourself at the edge of his bed and ran your fingers through his hair. He grumbled softly and rolled back over.

"What should I do though?" He whined. You smiled at him.

"That is the big question is it not?" You didn't answer, just got up and left the room, walking a few steps down the hall and smiling at Merlin, who was just going in.

"He awake?" Merlin sounded wistful.

"Yeah, he said he wanted to talk to you about something." The door shut behind Merlin and you hurried back toward it, pressing your ear against it. You could hear quiet talking and you knocked, stepping in with no reply. Merlin had somehow ended up sitting on Arthur lap, their lips just pulling apart.

"Sorry, I forgot the flowers," you said, getting them from the table and closing the door behind you.

"He in a bad mood?" You turned to see Gwaine leaning against the wall.

"Why?" You asked, beginning to walk down the hall. He followed behind, casually smiling at people you passed.

"Your cheeks are red."

"No,he's very much the opposite of angry," you replied, smiling at your own good work. You had reached an empty cooridor and Gwaine lunged at you, wrapped your waist with his arms. His lips found the side of your neck and you huffed, stepping on his foot. He stepped back with a frown.

"What've I done?"

"We're in the castle you cabbage."

"So?"

"People?"

"So?" You sighed and pushed him away, walking back towards the kitchen.

"(Y/N), I don't mind people seeing the two of us together, at all." You rolled your eyes.

"Wait for Uther to react." Gwaine shrugged and caught up to you. He tugged on your shoulder for you to turn and looked at you straight in the eye.

"If he decides that Arthur can stay here for loving Merlin, I'm sure he can make an acception for you." You laughed coldly, but couldn't for much longer because Gwaine kissed you full on the lips.

"Why are you so keen on making this work?" You asked, pushing him back.

"I could give you one hundred reasons why." As you walked Gwaine began talking and he counted out loud as he told you every reason that he loved you. He had to stop at thirty seven due to a loud yell from the royal hallway. Arthur and Uther were in a screaming match, Merlin standing guiltily between the two of them as they shouted. You dashed out between them and stopped them from yelling. Uther's face was already turning blue from all the exertion.

"Screaming won't solve anything, how about you talk about it?" You suggested, pulling Merlin out from the middle and moving to the side. Gwaine stood next to the two of you. Merlin was shaking and you held his shoulders, keeping him in check. This went on for the rest of the day, getting you scolded from the kitchen staff and Gwaine scolded for not showing up, even when Arthur didn't. Eventually the problem was resolved by tense silence, which seemed to hold over the rest of the castle. You gave up for the night, putting Merlin to bed and then beginning your walk back home. Gwaine was waiting for you though, standing out by the kitchen.

"I thought I would walk with you so I could finish my list," he said, hooking an arm with yours and walking. You sighed and nodded.

"Thirty eight, you're kind. Thirty nine, you don't seem to care about the argument, just that you know how to fix it. Fourty, the way you ignored your own problems to help others." He continued till he reached your house, dragging out the last ten so he could tell you one hundred at your door.

"One hundred, you love me back and that seems as good as any reason to love you." You smiled at him, kissing him on your doorstep.

"You might as well come in, it's already the middle of the night."
