"Aidaaaaaaaannnn!" You basically screamed.

"Yesssssssss!" he yelled back from the next room over.

"My tummy hurts," you complained. He walked in the room and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Is the baby poking you?" he asked, looking at your baby bump. Nine months on and you were really not enjoying the little darling growing in your stomach. You glared at your husband and he laughed.

"Yeah I know, shush."

"On a scale of one to ten, how bad of a mother am I going to be?" you asked, putting your head against Aidan's chest.

"Oh, don't be like that. You're going to be a great mother, stop worrying."

"Well I'm obviously not good at it yet!" you exclaimed, rolling over and curling up around your baby bump.

"Awe, come on, (Y/N). I know you. I've seen you with your nieces and nephews. You're going to be just fine." You were halfway to tears by now. All you'd done for the last couple days was worry. What if the baby is born wrong, or what if you're a bad mom, or what if what if what if.

"What if I'm not, A?" you asked, closing your eyes.

"Darling, you're going to be just fine," Aidan said, rubbing circles on your back. You honestly were ready last month, but as the due date got closer you got more and more worried until you were completely panicked. Your doctor said it was completely natural to be scared as a first time parent, but she assured you that it was going to be perfectly okay. Of course Aidan had been telling you that for weeks, but he was usually wrong.

Three weeks after the baby comes you're in a panic. Your natural instincts haven't kicked in and every time you try to help with taking care of Conor, you screw up or he starts crying. The only thing that calmed him down for the time being was Aidan's soothing words. You hated not being able to help take care of the baby from your stomach.

Aidan had finally finished putting Conor to sleep and you just lay there, your head stuffed into your pillow to mute your screams. You thought you were ready for this. You thought you could handle Conor, but three weeks in and you hadn't even successfully changed one diaper. Two weeks from then Aidan was off to New Zealand for The Hobbit filming and you couldn't change a bloody diaper.

Aidan sat next to you on the bed, his fingers softly caressing your back. He seemed tentative... afraid even.

"Darling, I'm sorry. I forced the baby onto you and I fully understand that it was my fault. You weren't ready... I thought you were..." he sighed. His tone made him sound final, like it was the last thing he was going to say to you. You turn around to look at his tearstained face and see that two bags are packed. One his and one Conor's. You look at him with complete fear.

"Y-You're l-leaving?" you stammer, more tears pouring down your face.

"You didn't want this. You don't need to be burdened with it..." he explained, his hand slipping off your skin. You stare at him for a minute and then dive at him, both of you falling onto the sheets.

"I thought I was ready too. Don't leave! I love Conor and above all I love you! I would rather die than not have you two and I will try harder to take care of him, I promise. I'm not a natural, but I'll get it. I promise." Aidan smiles hopefully at you and brushes his lips across yours.

"I love you too. You try so hard for me and I love you so much! I LOVVVEE YYOUU!" The baby monitor signals that Aidan was too loud and you run out of the room before Aidan can. You approach Conor's crib quietly and pull the crying mess to you, rocking him slowly. You'd done this on your nieces before and they were perfectly content with that. Conor, however, quieted down and blubbered. You quietly hummed 'Country Queen' by Night Moves, which always worked on Aidan, and he was out within the minute. Even though he was asleep you hummed to him for a little while anyway, enjoying how easy his breathing was.

You finally put him in his crib, making sure his body was warm, but not hot. You kissed him on the forehead and shut the door quietly before running to your room and hugging Aidan, who was unpacking his bag.

"I did it!" You squealed. He laughed and hugged you, kissing you on the mouth.

"I love you."

"And I love you too."
