"MUMMY, I WANNA BUY THAT!"

"NO! M, THAT'S BETTER!"

"I'M THE OLDER ONE I GET TO PICK!" Tom laughed and walked behind me as I took down the things I needed from the shelves. The two boys and one girl were running around yelling at each other. Of course, high queen of Hiddel-child central sat atop her father's shoulders, calling out orders to her subjects below. Kayla was holding onto a bag of crisps that were probably as big as her. Aiden was running around he trolley trying to figure out how to get on and Andrew... oh my sweet little Drew was holding onto the side of my pant leg, his feet following mine while reading a book way older than he was.

"Daddy?" he asked quietly. Tom looked down and smiled. His little bookworm he always said. His second little bookworm he'd continue with. I was his first.

"Yes, Drew?"

"What does... flummoxed mean?" I looked down to see what book he was reading. The Hobbit. In the few precious moments neither of us were watching, well looking, the trolley got piled high with cookies and candies, which I would try to return later and the kids would have none of it, pouting till their father took their side. But for the moment I watched as Tom grinned and answered, "Amazed or confused."

"Thank you, daddy." At least one of children learned manners. I slowly, one by one put away some of the sweets they'd bought till we were down to one of each kind and we walked on, gathering looks from people as our hooligans yelled. When we finally got to the checkout Amelia scrambled off of her dad's shoulders and ran down an isle, her sister and brother following behind. I looked at Tom with tired eyes and he laughed, kissing me on the cheek and following them back into the shop. I picked Drew up so he wouldn't get lost and started to put the items on the conveyor belt. He helped without looking and I kissed on the top of the head.

"Thank you for not being crazy," I laughed.

"You say that every time we go grocery shopping, mum," he said, still looking at the thick book.

"Yeah I know, but it's necessary," I smiled. When I'd almost finished checking out Amelia, Aiden, and Kayla came diving onto the conveyor belt, their father chasing them.

"I told you to bring them back, not create a havoc," I scolded, picking up Drew and gathering the kids up. Tom smiled a little bit and picked up Kayla and Aiden.

"What did the twins do?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"Absolutely nothing. They were absolute angels," he answered, setting them down in the trolley. Once all the food was put around them and Amelia was securely on her father's shoulders again I took a quick glance at the receipt and sighed. 203.93 pounds (342.25 dollars).

"Yeah, but they're worth it." Tom helped me load the car and strap the kids in before getting in the driver's seat. Drew was reading aloud to the other kids in the car and I nodded.

"Yeah, they're worth it." Tom smiled and squeezed my hand before beginning the drive home.
