Lady of the mansion

Lady Evelyn Mater was a prisoner in her own home.

Lilith had swooped in with her... creatures, claiming all of Lady Mater's research and work.
Sebastian was playing lord of the manor, that is, when he left his room.
God, she wanted to thump that boy so hard it was unreal.
He'd brought nothing but trouble, and worst of all he'd risked Nyx's life.
Evelyn had never felt so betrayed. She'd begrudgingly taken him in, tried to help him against her better judgement. And he'd broken every bit of the thin line of trust she'd extended to him.
And Nyx had gotten hurt. The biggest betrayal of it all.

The mansion seemed so empty now. It had seemed empty before, but not like this. Most of her guests and staff had either fled or been killed, though a few still remained. But it was unclear whether that was out of loyalty to her or loyalty to Lilith.

In short, she could trust no one.

It was a miracle she hadn't been killed yet. It seemed to make no difference to Lilith whether she lived or died. She simply just wasn't important enough to bother about.

Which was a good thing.

It was still her mansion, after all. If anyone could sneak about the place unseen... Well, actually the winner of that category was Luci, but Evelyn could do a pretty decent job herself.

Slipping off her blazer (because even under house arrest she still managed the impeccable suit look.), and removing her shoes, she tiptoed down the hallway, hiding in the shadows.

Her objective was simple. Discover what they were planning and find a way to stop it before it starts.

She had the inside advantage, and she'd be a fool not to use it.
