Evelyn had come to the conclusion that Shadowhunters were like rats. Wherever there was one, more followed.

Well, at least none of the parents had shown up yet, which would probably put her in a position she really didn't want to be in.

And she was twenty seconds away from garroting the Herondale kid if he didn't stop being so.... she didn't have a word for it, but it was really irritating.

"So your house was invaded by demons, but they left you alive and actually let you live in the house for what, the last few months?"

"Apparently so." Evelyn eyed the red-haired girl. She recognised her actually. Well, how could she not? She'd known Clary's parents, and currently had her newly resurrected brother living in her house.
But also, she recognised her from that time in Nyx's house. Even though Lilith had been controlling her body, she still had the memories, and definitely remembered her sitting in the front room with Nyx and Selene, pretending they hadn't been listening through the door to her and Rachel talking in the office.

And then even later, from the rescue party that had gone after Nyx.
In fact, she recognised all of them  as being from that group.

Now this was problematic.

Up until now, Evelyn actually hadn't told anyone about Sebastian.

Not out of any loyalty to him, mind. She'd hand him over in a heartbeat if she could.
No, it was Nyx.
Not the fact that he and Nyx were sort of together, no. In fact, she'd be more than happy to break that up, even if Nyx hated her for it.

No. It was the fact that Nyx brought him back to life in the first place.
Even if Lilith had forced her to, the trail would still lead to Nyx, and Evelyn couldn't stand that.

But these people knew about the caves. And just because of that, they could either be her greatest allies or her worst enemies in that cause.
It all depended on exactly what they knew.
