Magnus groaned when he pulled open the door to see Nyx standing on the doorstep. "Oh, come on! I just got rid of the last lot!"
"Magnus, chill. I'm just here for some stuff."
"What kind of stuff?"
"Eye of newt, toe of frog, and all that jazz. Rachel's going to mix it all up in her cauldron and chant 'hubble bubble, toil and trouble'... no? Not funny? Ah, I'm wasted here."
She pushed past him into the room, hands in pockets. "I did write a list, but it seems to have evaporated... hey, Evelyn."
Evelyn sat bolt upright, rousing herself from thought. "Nyx! You're okay!"
"Yeah, she is. Now, I need to ask you a question."
Evelyn paused. "Wait, what did you just say?"
"I need to ask you a question."
"Before that."
'Nyx' shrugged. "Oh, come on! You knew I was going to come out to play eventually! God's sake, dear darling Nyx is fine! Like I'd let anything happen to her!" Alysha rolled her eyes. "Sheesh. Some people. I'm just having a turn. Taking turns, playing fair... I'm a lovely person really."
"Evelyn, what's going on?" Magnus asked, a confused look on his face.
Evelyn swallowed. "This is... Alysha. Not Nyx. Although, they're kinda..."
"The same person." Alysha said, grinning. "Although, not really. I'm a lot older. And whilst I'm thinking about it, I want to apologise for the violent plate-smashing incident a while back. Nyx is usually very nice natured, and probably wouldn't have done it if I hadn't encouraged her."
"Riiiiiight..." Magnus shifted slowly towards the door.
Alysha noticed. "I wouldn't, if I were you. Stay here, where I can keep an eye on you. I really don't want people knowing I'm in town yet."
She turned back to Evelyn. "So, shall we... Magnus, I saw that."
