Owen rushed to Rachel, Magnus following after.
"Rach, are you alright?""No, she's unconscious." Magnus said, supporting her as her limp body slipped in the chair. "Hey, help me get her to the floor. Grab some cushions. How strong are her meds, what's she on?"
Owen moved erratically, nerves and panic flooding his veins. "I... don't know... I'll... get the others... guys!"
Magnus rolled his eyes as the panicked teen raced out of the room.
Remembering what Rachel had said before she fainted; "My legs hurt.", he turned to her bandaged feet, and immediately saw a problem.
Blood was bleeding through the bandage, which should not have been happening, not with all the stitches and the medical operations.
A putrid smell leaked from the bandages, not obvious until now, and the white cloth was tinged in a strange yellowish colour."Oh God, she's got some kind of infection or something." Magnus couldn't decide whether it was better to take off the bandages and have a look, or just take her back to the hospital. Maybe he could do something... maybe it would just be better to get medical professionals.
But something was off. Something was very off.
Peeling back the bandages just a little on her left leg, he balked at what he saw. Yup, that was soooo not right.
Owen raced back in, followed by Travis carrying the packets of Rachel's medication. "She's on..."
"No, that's not the problem." Magnus said. "I think her wounds infected. Really infected."
"But she's on all these Antibiotics and stuff..."
Magnus looked at them, face serious, worry bleeding into his voice. "Yeah, but... draugr. What are they really? Lookswise, they're all decayed and rotted, like... walking corpses, almost.""So what you're saying is, she... caught something from the one that attacked her?"
"It's a possibility. But thing is... What did she catch?"
Any good? I'm not sure.
Also, quick question.
Originally, I only planned to have three books. But I haven't managed to achieve everything I wanted to in this book, yet I'm sixty-something pages in, and I try not to do over 100 or so pages (or a hundred and twenty something, in the first book.). I've also had a ton of really good ideas since then, that weren't in my original plan, but really work.
Would you guys be willing to stick around for a fourth book, or should I just wrap it up now?
To sweeten the deal, it would allow a lot of character development for everyone's favourite new character, Alysha. As well as Nyx, who I personally feel has done little more than whine in this book, which I'm not happy about.
But I won't do it if you think it's not necessary. I can wrap up this book pretty easily either way.
