Rachel was waiting for Nyx when she got home.
"And where have you been, young lady?""Out."
"I can see that. Out where?"
"America."
Rachel rolled her eyes. "A little more specific than that."
"New York."
"Nyx, I don't like this new attitude." Rachel came up to her, putting her hands on her shoulders. "I know you really liked Chris. But personally, I think it's better that you're not seeing each other so much. Gives you more of a chance to grow."
Nyx gave her an exasperated look.
She wanted to scream at Rachel, scream and yell so loud, and scream the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
'Chris' was gone. No, 'Chris' never really existed. It was an alias, a disguise.
But the person beneath had been real. And he really was gone. He wasn't coming back.It haunted her, the last time she'd seen him, just a shadow climbing out of her window as she watched with half closed eyes.
The difference had been so clear, yet at the same time so slight, and then she'd known. She had deluded herself into blindness. Convinced herself she could fix him, save him. But it wasn't to be, she could see that now. It had always been a part of him, and it always would be.
Moodily, she pushed past Rachel, walking up the stairs. Rachel watched her go. "We'll discuss this tomorrow."
Nyx shrugged, not turning around."Yeah, yeah."
One day, Rachel was going to stop twittering at her. She wasn't a lost little girl anymore.
"Maybe we should consider our own place. Would make things a lot easier."
Nyx winced as the voice crept into her head. Even now, it still freaked her out.
"Shut up, Alysha. I'm not moving out."
"Just saying..."
"No."
So, what are people thinking of it so far?
