Luci squeezed through the gorse-covered shaft in the rock. To be honest, she'd imagined that the entrance to the 'grand', 'amazing', 'legendary' Caves of Reflections would be more impressive.
But then again, she could understand how this could remain hidden for years. It hadn't been difficult to put together where Lilith was, once she factored in the current location, Nyx's involvement with Sebastian's resurrection (If that was the right word. She was a little foggy on what exactly had happened.), and both Lady Mater's, and then Lilith's, amassed research on the legend.
Besides, if Luci turned out to be wrong, at least she could earn some brownie points for finding and exploring this place that held such interest to Lilith.
She could see why they called it the Caves of Reflections. Every surface, every ridge, every stalagmite, stalactite and rocky peak, reflected her image a thousand times as the images bounced between the mirrored surfaces, tinted with a heady blue glow. The effect was hypnotic, almost maddening, definitely misleading.
How anyone could navigate this was beyond Luci, who was starting to feel nauseous just by watching the stones.A cough from behind her made her jump.
"And the reason you aren't keeping house like you were told is... what, exactly?"
She turned to see Sebastian leaning casually against a stone pillar, smirking.
She rolled her eyes. "Alysha threatened me with a gun, then one thing lead to another and now I'm here."He raised an eyebrow. "And Alysha is...?"
Luci smirked. "I'm ninety-eight percent sure she's got a major yet currently unrevealed score to settle with Lilith, ninety-nine percent sure she's your self-proclaimed arch nemesis, and a hundred percent sure she's a super-soldier-hyped psychopath." She grinned mockingly. "Bit like you, actually. Except with a lack of self control, and an I-just-drunk-a-ton-of-caffeine personality, and a love of firearms.
Also, I only escaped from her ten minutes ago, so she's really nearby. And she knows where this place is, so... good luck!"She sauntered past him into the cave, swinging her hips and grinning like a Cheshire cat, ignoring his unamused expression.
