Nyx's voice was low and chilling. "What do you mean 'people like us'."
"People who are different." He spat. "People who don't fit into one of their little boxes."

Nyx furrowed her brow. "So... that's what your angry about?"

"No. I don't need their approval."

Nyx sighed. "Look, I know I'm... not exactly average. But you can't just start..."
"Do you know how 'not exactly average' you are?"
"No, and I don't want to!"

That took him aback. "Wait, what?"
"I. Don't. Want. To. Know. Because it's who I am, and not what I am that counts."

"You tell him, babe!"
"You shut up, Alysha!"

Sebastian groaned, rubbing his face with his hands. "Yes, but that's not the point..."
"Then what is the point?"

"Point is, you're more like me than you are like them, and they know that! Why do you think they gave your family such hell over adopting Abby?"

Nyx stroked her chin thoughtfully. "Actually, I think that was to do with Travis's faery heritage, and the fact they don't like faeries anymore. Now, why is that again?"

Sebastian pinched his nose, trying to calm himself. "We're not fighting. I don't want to fight."

"I do, just a little bit. And he does too, kind of. Come on, let's see what he's got!"
"Let's not. Everyone's asleep, and we really don't need them waking to find me having a shouting match with Sebastian Morgenstern. Or you having a shouting match with him, which would probably be worse."

Nyx took his hand. "It's okay, we're not fighting. We're just... discussing our opinions."

"You should come up to the mansion. I can't tell you, not here or now, but I think I can show you."
"Say yes! We need access to that place!"
"Why?"
"Because Lilith's there, and she had the draugr's originally, and if there's going to be answers anywhere, it's with her! Come on, you know all this!"

"Uh..." Nyx stumbled for words. "Uh... I don't know."
