Reflections of Dawn

Lake edge

Julianna skidded to a halt at the side of the lake, gasping for breath. Her eyes flew wide with surprise. "This is Lake Lyn!"

Luci caught up with her, stopping beside her. "Well, duh. We're in Idris."
"Yeah, but I didn't know that."

Luci gave her a look. "Don't you Shadowhunter's, like, live here?"

Julianna gave her an evil glare.

Suddenly, the sound of someone crying drew their attention.
Cresting a low ridge, Julianna saw a familiar curly haired girl curled up in a ball on the bank.

Taking a gander, she called out. "Nyx? Is that you?"
Nyx nodded, face in her hands.

With long strides, Julianna crossed over to her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. You're okay."
Nyx looked up at her. "I... I'm scared." She croaked.
"I know you are." Julianna said in a soft voice. "But do you think you can get up?"
Nyx nodded, and with Julianna's help, stood up on her shaky feet. "I... I.... she... what... I don't... understand!" She stammered, lips trembling. "I'm... so tired. I don't feel well."

"Do not puke on me." Julianna told her sternly. Nyx cracked a grin. "I'll try."
"You'll succeed too, if you want my help."

Stumbling over her feet, Nyx made it to the bank of the lake, before making Julianna put her down to rest.
Silently, she peered into the water, watching the movement of the breeze across it's surface.

Julianna was going through the best plan to get them home, but Nyx wasn't really listening. Instead, she waved her hand across the water surface.

A familiar blonde face appeared. Maddie scowled at Nyx from her reflection form. "You promised to get me out of limbo more often, do you know how painfully boring being in a coma is? I mean, I forget I exist sometimes, because sure as hell I've no way to keep myself grounded!"

Julianna blinked rapidly. "So... that's real. She's really... and it wasn't a dream... I'm gonna go... Luci. Actually, where is Luci? Damn it, that snake's disappeared!"
