Reflections of Dawn

Fair

The girls slowly circled each other, prowling around the room.
Alysha looked at the weapon in Luci's hand, then at her face. "You brought a knife. That's not fair, I don't have one!"

Luci rolled her eyes. "Since when has 'fair' had anything to do with it?"
Alysha shrugged. "Well, if that's the rule we're going on..."

Click!

She pulled the gun out from under her jacket, aiming it at Luci.
"Where the hell did you get that?" Shrieked Luci.

"Rachel keeps it above the fireplace. I used it to knock out Owen, and then decided to borrow it. Now, let me past."

Luci squinted at Alysha, evaluating her, trying to get her measure. "You won't actually fire that."
"Don't bet on it. I'm having a really bad day."

Luci sized her up one more time. "Go on then."
Alysha shrugged. "No need. You should watch where you're putting your feet."

She gestured to Luci, who looked down, then around. She'd been so concentrated on the threat in front of her, that she hadn't noticed that in their threatening stance of each other, Alysha had actually managed to trick her into moving away from the door.

Alysha ran, diving past Luci, out of the room, the faerie girl hot on her heels.
She sing-songed loudly and almost drunkenly, as she raced up the stairs. "La la, can't catch me, I'm in the house now, la la la! Too slow, you're all slow!"

Luci thundered after her, anger glinting in her eyes. "Where the hell are you going?"

"Depends, which ones Sebastian's bedroom?"
"He's not here right now!"
"Even better! Oh, I think it's this one!"

Alysha disappeared into a door up ahead. "Nope, just an office. Ooh, where's the library? I remember that being cool! Hey, question here, and like, no offense or anything, just personal curiosity. Does Lilith have a bedroom? I mean, I can't even picture the woman sleeping..."

Luci groaned. This was painful. And she was going to be in for it when Lilith found out.
