Nyx was awoken by someone sneaking through her bedroom window. "Holy crap, I thought you'd stopped doing that!"

Sebastian chuckled, settling on the end of the bed. "Desperate times. I'm this close to cracking in that place. No one knows what they're doing! Today, we managed to lose Evelyn, because some idiots weren't paying attention."

"Oh." Nyx didn't know how to react to that. To her, it was a very good thing that Evelyn escaped. But funnily enough, he wasn't going to share that opinion. But the fact he'd told her obviously meant he was expecting some reaction from her. How the hell could she answer that in a diplomatically neutral way?
"Oh, uh... how... did that happen?"
She could have kicked herself. That reaction had been so weak, it was unbelievable.

"The woman was smarter than we expected. Much smarter. Then again, it's not surprising. You just have to look at her family."
Nyx blinked in surprise, slightly shocked that he'd just accepted her half-assed reply. Then again, it's not like she'd given him anything to be suspicious of. And he knew what she thought about whatever he was doing with Lilith. Although, thinking along those lines, why he was telling her all this was a bit strange.

"Lady Mater has family?"
He smirked. "Surprising, isn't it?"
He took her hand, drawing lazy circles on her palm. "Why do you call her Lady Mater? Surely it's a little formal, at least, it is now you've known each other for as long as you have."
Nyx shrugged. "It's just... she... always slightly intimidated me, I suppose. She's this... amazing, high-achieving person who does all this stuff, and it's... wow. I mean... I want to be like her, to be honest. She's like... what I aspire to be, in my imagination. But... I don't know."

He chuckled, pulling her close. "Aww, your starstruck."
"Am not."
