Nyx stumbled into the cave, clutching at the rock for support.
A moment later, the control was yanked from her again, as Alysha fought to be in charge.

Alysha grinned wickedly, cackling with laughter as strode through the caves, only a second later to have Nyx clutching at her head as she struggled to work out where to go from here.

Back and forth, between the two, the mental war for control raged.

Sebastian was fuming. He felt like he was being played. Played by Lilith.
Whatever intruder was in this place, better be prepared for a world of pain.

And then he saw the reflection in the rock.

Just a glimpse, reflected from way up the tunnels.
A familiar flash of dark curls.

Was that... Nyx?

This place played tricks with you, that much was clear. He knew.

He'd had to dig himself out of this place the first time, after his resurrection.
It had taken an eternity, with madness closing in from the edge at all times.
This is where he'd seen her first. she'd been the first image burned into his mind, before he'd even remembered himself.

And that's why it seemed unreal that she'd be here.
Here she was a trick of the mind. A ghost memory.

He also knew she was in New York last he checked, and he hadn't told her where he was going.
In fact, they hadn't parted on the best of terms, which he was really regretting.
She'd somehow become very important to him, which he'd never expected.

And now he had to focus. This was important.

Stalking through the peaks of rock, he began to focus on senses other than his eyes, as in a place full of reflections, they were too easily confused.
Closing his eyes, he took a moment to listen to the surroundings. The caves were so quiet, any sound here really stood out.

Water drops... splashing... footsteps.

Someone was close.

If it was that faerie, he wasn't going to refrain from taking her head off.

It wasn't Luci.

Seconds later, a sound of slapping feet, and around a corner of rock skidded a familiar, ringlet-haired girl, eyes wide with shock.

Seconds later, she flung herself into his arms, clinging to him in a vice-like grip.

He couldn't decide whether she was crying or laughing.

Next chapters probably the one you've all been waiting for!
(Unless I decide to be mean and swing the focus back to Rachel. But we all love Rachel, so...)
