Nyx opened the door, and her heart jumped into her throat.
He was there, standing on the porch like nothing had happened.
In a split second, he grabbed her, pulling her in for a kiss."I've missed you."
She stuttered, slightly in shock. "I-I've... missed... you too."
In the back of her mind, she could feel Alysha panting like a dog in heat.
She shoved it away. She had to be careful. She couldn't just get blinded by emotion.
"So, can I come in?"
Now that was a question. Could he come in? Would it be a good idea to let him in?
Very probably not.
He saw her thinking about it, and grinned. "I swear I will not burn down the house, torture your family and corrupt the baby with my evilness."
Even though he was joking around, Nyx still gave him a suspicious look.
He looked wounded. "You don't trust me. Fine. I understand. I just couldn't take another minute in that place. I swear, everyone is so... It's irritating, alright? Not like this place. I like this place."
"Stop trying to pretend like nothing's happened."
"I'm sorry, what?"
Nyx gestured to him. "You're all different. I know you are, so stop trying to be normal."
He put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, I'm not that different. At least, not with you. I promise, I'll never change towards you."
Against her better judgement, she smiled weakly. "Stop being so... nice."
"Why?"
"Because it's very difficult to see you as the bad guy, even before you start being nice."
Now he really did look hurt. "You see me as the bad guy?"
She shook her head. "No, even though I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to. But then, that's kind of always been my problem."
He grinned, pulling her in for another kiss.
