Magnus was woken at two in the morning by someone practically beating down his door.
Muttering angrily under his breath, he yanked open the door, and almost chocked in surprise. "Evelyn?"

Lady Mater nodded, pushing matted hair out of her eyes. "Can I come in?"
Magnus wordlessly stepped aside.
She stumbled into the room, her bare, filthy feet raw and bleeding, giving her a profound limp.
Magnus caught her arm before she went over. "What is this about? Why are you like this?"

"I... think I lost them." She panted.
"Lost what?"
"The..." she breathed hard, pointing down the hallway behind her. "The... draugr. They're out... in the city somewhere... but I lost them."

Magnus helped her gently to a chair, where she collapsed, panting heavily.
"Draugr?" He asked. "What are draugr?"
"The reason downworlders are disappearing. They're being turned into draugrs. I'm not sure how. But they... they took over my house. I barely escaped." She gasped for breath. "Can I have a drink please?"

Magnus went and got it. He came back to find Evelyn with her head in her hands, sobbing slowly.
Tentatively, he put a friendly hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you're alright."
"It's not me I'm worried about. It's... It's... my daughter!"

Magnus spat his own drink in surprise. "You have a daughter? When did this happen?"
"Nineteen odd years ago."
"You have a nineteen year old daughter?"
Evelyn chuckled. "Oh, it gets better than that. She doesn't know I'm her mother, her adopted mother banned me from telling her. Oh, and she's Nyx L'ange."

Magnus chocked a second time. "Nyx is your daughter? But... wait, no, I see the resemblance now. But... wha... why... how... did she end up with Rachel?"

"It's a long story, and I'd rather not discuss it now. But anyway, I think she's in danger."
