Frustration

Sebastian was frustrated, there was no other word for it.

Too much was going on without his knowledge, and he didn't like it.

Luci and Lilith had become very friendly, Lady Mater was becoming an issue and Nyx... well, she wasn't here, was she.

One thing at a time. Stop Lady Mater being an issue.

Logic dictated the easiest way to do this would be to kill her.
This he would have gladly done, except for a few small details.

The first of which being Nyx.

Lady Mater had the power to shed vital information on her past, giving her the upper hand. Killing her lost this information forever.

Another was, sad as it is, he needed allies.

And this was Lady Evelyn Mater, the woman who managed to both be heralded like an angel by Downworlders, and stay off the Clave's radar entirely.

If that wasn't something he could use, he didn't know what was.

"So, how did you work out Nyx was your long-lost daughter?"
He spoke in a polite, conversational tone, as if he was just curious. Totally no ulterior motives, just conversation.

Lady Mater eyed him suspiciously. "Lilith found out. But when she possessed me, I discovered it from her."
Sebastian nodded thoughtfully. "And you never told Nyx?"
"You think I didn't want to?" Evelyn said sharply. "There was never a right time. And I didn't want to shatter her life. She looked so at home, I didn't want to take that away."

"And you didn't want her to treat you differently." Sebastian said curtly. "You know she wouldn't accept you if she knew, even if you didn't want to give her away. Let's face it, it was completely selfish."
"Is there a point to this?" Evelyn asked angrily.
Sebastian smirked. "Just curious, really."
