"Thomas, this is a horrible, horrible, horrible idea!!"
Virgil and Roman were sitting on the bottom of the stairs. Both were red in the face. Virgil was fuming and Roman had yet to comment as he covered his face with his hand.
"Aw, come on Virge! It'll be fun!" Thomas said with a chuckle. "Plus, the fans man! It would lower some of my anxiety to put out something I KNOW they would LOVE."
He gave him a look, making Virgil groan. There was no way he was doing this. There was no WAY he was going to do this. Just the idea of doing this was making his skin crawl with embarrassment. Thomas was asking him to do something way out of his comfort zone.
He wanted the two of them to do a shipping hotline for all the Prinxiety shippers in the fandom. He thought it would be hilarious and fun, but he was completely unaware of how in love the two of them were with each other. They were took scared to say anything for fear of ruining their treacherous friendship. The two of them were internally screaming as he put the phone on stair in front of them and tweeted out what was happening. Within seconds, the phone rang.
"Have fun you two!" Thomas said with a wink as he walked away. Virgil couldn't protest anymore as Roman shakily picked up the phone.
"Greetings! This is Prince Roman speaking!" he said, gesturing despite being on the phone. He hit speaker. "What question might I answer for you?"
"Oh my god- okay! Uh, are you and Virgil actually together?" the fan asked, clearly really excited.
Virgil and Roman locked eyes for a moment, both looking away quickly. The anxious Side took the phone from him, trying to be as sarcastic as possible to hide his shaking voice. "Sup, this is Virgil, and no, we're not actually together," he said. "Thank you for calling in or whatever."
He hung up before Roman could do anything or he could mess up. "Virgil! That was kind of rude," he said, scratching his head.
"Well, what were you going to tell them?" Virgil retorted, being sure to use 'they' because he couldn't tell what they identified as just by their voice. The prince had no response so he just looked away.
Six or seven phone calls later, they'd shot down every implication that they were actually together, but did answer questions about what the disliked and liked most about each other. Roman's stomach growled as he realized it had been a while since he'd eaten lunch.
"Imma grab a snack, be back in fifteen," he told Virgil before strutting off toward the kitchen in typical 'Princey' style. The anxious Side rolled his eyes.
Suddenly, the phone rang again. Virgil looked at it, contemplating whether he should answer. He groaned, picking up the phone. "Sup, this is the Prinxiety Hotline, Virgil speaking," he said. "By the way, Roman's not here at the moment."
"H-Hi Virgil," the fan said, sounding a little shy. He smiled a little; he had a soft spot for when fans were shy around him because he was that way too. "I was wondering, and you totally don't have to answer, but um, do you like Roman?"
Virgil froze, looking off toward the kitchen. The prince was nowhere to be found. "I-I'd s-say I've grown q-quite affectionate for him, yes," he responded shakily.
"Really!?" the fan gasped. "Why don't you tell him?"
He bit his lip. "You think I should? How would I?" he asked, completely oblivious to the fact that Roman had reentered the room. He listened as the fan asked him if he truly loved him. "Well, yeah, of course I love him, but how do I tell him that without possibly messing up our friendship?"
"That's a tough thing," the fan agreed. "I think you just need to have faith. I think he likes you back."
"Really? Whoa... I guess I'm telling him then- mmf!"
The phone call was abruptly ended as Roman kissed Virgil firmly on the lips. The anxious Side slowly melted into it, allowing his lips to move against the prince's in sync. They eventually pulled away, panting a little. They each smiled, laughing nervously as they pressed their foreheads together.
"Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all."
