Her eyes opened slowly, her sight shaky and blurry as it tried to readjust to the bright white room that hurt her eyes. There was a soft ringing in her ears and she sat up, a blanket that once covered her pooling onto her lap.
"Good, you're awake," A nurse nearby smiled kindly at the child, holding a brown clipboard with papers that contained information about her." I'll let the ones who want to see you in."
She turned on her heel and left through the door, humming a soft lullaby. Moments later, a young man came in, looking wild and disheveled.
"N/N," He gasped out, repeatedly saying her name with a tone of relief. He cupped both her cheeks with his hands and sighed." You're fine, you're fine. Uncle Aizawa is here."The moment she was born, Aizawa had somewhat formed a special bond with the child, always worrying and looking out for the small person. The moment he heard the news, he broke into panic, rushing as fast as possible to crime scene, looking for his other family.
The little girl couldn't process what was happening. Just memories flooding her head, memories of the night before and what she had done. The words of her uncle did not reach her ears, she was more focused on the one question that stayed in her head throughout the events.
"Where's Mama and Nii-chan?"
Aizawa froze, drawing his hands back. He debated whether he should tell what had actually happened to them, the thought of his sister and nephew now suddenly gone from existence nearly bringing him to tears.
Y/N waited. Staring at him with big, desperate, and sorrowful eyes. She saw the look flash in the older man's eyes and the feeling of pain flushed through her.
"I'm sorry, N/N. They're gone..."
Gone?
Her eyes cast downwards, not fully comprehending the words he said to her. Tears pooled into her eyes, rolling down her cheeks and dropping into the sheet. What started as a few drops turned to rivers and rivers of tears cascading down her face, her tiny body quivering.
The black-haired man reached out a hand to comfort the young child, softly running his hand down her hair repeatedly.
Y/N looked up, tears still rolling down her her cheeks freely, her voice shaky," T-They're g-gonna c-come back r-right?"
Aizawa didn't know what to say, watching the daughter of his sister continue talking.
"M-Mama a-always says she's g-gonna c-come back and d-defeat the baddies. She always comes back home."
He watched her hiccup and stutter out words, opening his arms wide so that she could hug him. The little girl gladly obliged, her tears and snot staining the black shirt the older male wore.
