There are now 8,077 cases in the UK, 172 in Northern Ireland and just over 1,300 in Ireland. It's scary how quickly the cases are rising in the UK, but I think it's because a lot of people aren't taking it seriously enough.
I saw on news articles that people are just going outside and ignoring the social distancing rules. And I've seen pictures of the tubes in London and it's packed, there's literally no way to even socially distance. I also heard that the drive-through queue for McDonald's yesterday was packed because it was the last day it would be open for a while.
But the worst I heard was people spitting and coughing on the police. That's horrible! And it could infect them with the virus which would be awful. People should not be spitting or coughing on anyone, it's disgusting and appalling that people would do that.
I really hope that more people will start staying in their house as much as they can because so many more people will get infected if they don't. But at least I live in the countryside, so it's unlikely that I'll come in contact with people who are going out a lot.I even got a text message today from the UK government saying to stay in as much as I can. This is the exact text, "GOV. UK CORONAVIRUS ALERT New rules in force now: you must stay at home. More info & Exemptions at gov.uk/coronavirus Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives." I called my work and thankfully I've got unpaid leave so I don't have to go in until I want to go back. So I won't be going out of my house unless it's to drive.
Today I called work when I got up and I'm so relieved that I don't have to go into work. It was really stressing me because I was so worried that I'd get coronavirus at work and give it to my parents. Plus it stressed me when I went in and saw loads of the shelves bare because it made me paranoid that I didn't have enough supplies at my house.
Then I had breakfast while I watched part of Impractical Jokers. I went and got dressed and then I joined a group call for advice on how to analyse my dissertation. It helped a bit and some of my questions were answered but I felt it went on too long. So I was pretty bored for most of it.
After that, I drove my mum down to our local shop. I've been learning to drive for a while, but I haven't done the theory or practical test yet. But I think I could probably drive on my own now. I'll have to try to go out driving when I can because I don't want to lose what I've already learned. And my driving lessons are cancelled so that's another reason to go out driving.
When I got home I had a shower and then replied to my emails and I've found another teacher to do an interview with. So that's good, I found it very difficult to get people to do interviews for my dissertation.
Then I watched The Walking Dead and I thought Michonne's hallucinations were interesting, but I found the rest of it quite dull. I watched The Talking Dead as well and it was quite different to normal since they were all doing it through Skype or whatever. It's sad that it was Michonne's last episode. She was one of my favourites, so I hope she'll be back at some point. Then I watched House of Games.
After that, I watched Chaos, which was a movie with Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes in it. It was about two policemen trying to catch a group of robbers and I thought it was good. My dad figured out one of the twists in the movie but I worked out the biggest twist, which came at the end of the movie. I watched A Question of Sport which was good.
Then I went up to get ready for bed and there was a massive spider in the bath. I wanted to get it out because I didn't want it to die. But I didn't want to waste toilet roll since there's basically none in the shops; so I got my shorts which were on the side of the bath and I scooped up the spider with those. I didn't want the spider to stay in my shorts so I shook my shorts, trying to get the spider out. I went and told my mum about it and she said she'd check in a few days to see if the spider was still there. I went back into the bathroom and lifted my shorts and I tried shaking the spider off again. I'm pretty sure I got the spider out of my shorts but I've no idea where it went because I couldn't find it again.
I feel a bit less stressed today, which is good because I've been stressed all week. I'm hoping that I'll sleep better now. Stay at home if you can, goodbye for today.
