Third Person's POV

Baby Tales (Part I: Mommy)

She woke up with a start. The twin's wail could be heard from the baby monitor and that explained why her sleep was disturbed once again. A glance at the clock on the bedside table told her it was 3:45 am. Right on schedule actually, she thought wryly. Lately, the twins have been choosing to wake up around 2-5 am. She reached out to her husband who slept soundly next to her. "Allen... babe, the twins are crying again,"

"Hmmm..." A sleepy mumble responded, but there was no sign of him waking up.

"Allen, please, I had just slept for two hours."

No reply this time except for a snore.

Sam sighed and got off the bed to tend to her twins. She had a headache due to lack of sleep, and all the crying only made it worse. "Come here, sweetheart..." she said as she picked Addy up. "Why are you awake, huh? Oh your diaper's dirty... and that made your twin sister awaken too."

It began to take its toll on her. Sam tried to remember why it didn't feel this hard when they had Aj even though that was their first time, then she realized they had everyone helping them. Their parents even took turns on taking care of Aj when Ava was still a baby. Allen also wasn't as busy with work. Now, of course their respective family is busy with their own lives, and Allen... well, Allen hadn't been present. It was her idea not to hire a nanny for their children except for the two helper they have during the day to help her watch the kids especially if she has to go to the company but other than that, they both agreed to shoulder and handle it themselves. Yeah, both, it means she and her husband and not just her alone.

Now that Sam recalled, Allen seemed to be working a lot more. Early meetings, overtimes, out of town trips. Allen said their company is handling a big project right now, but Samantha couldn't care less. That might be true or Allen might simply be avoiding his responsibility to take care of their children. The point was, Sam felt overwhelmed with the twins and Allen wasn't helping her at all. Not even at night or early morning when Allen just continued sleeping while she had to stay up until either of the twins decided to go to bed, or when either Aj or Ava is sick.

Could she be blamed for feeling so averse to her husband? She wouldn't respond to his hugs and kisses, saying that she felt tired, That wasn't a lie, although not the whole truth. She also preferred to go to bed early so she wouldn't see him. Which made sense anyway because some time past midnight the twins would wake up and she would be the one tending them, so she needed all the sleep she could get.

If her eldest child wasn't playing or working on his homework, he would be annoying her asking for her attention. Which made her even angrier at Allen because he was the one who supposed to take care of both Aj and Ava, not her. What happened to the division of labor? Now not only she got her hands full, more and more burden was forced onto her.

"Mommy, can we go to the park?" Ava tugged on her shirt. "Mommy? Park!" the little girl repeated a little bit louder this time since she didn't get any response from her Mommy.
