Chapter 56: First Day Helping Out Pt.2

Izuku's POV:

I was rushing to the building so that I could have more time to help out. I ran through the front door as I then made a screeching halt at the front desk.

Receptionist: "Hello there MIdoriya. I didn't know you were coming in today, what's the occasion?"

Izuku: "I'm here to work overtime so that I could help Nakamura-san with his orders due to how little staff is available."

Receptionist: "You do know that you won't get paid for working overtime right?" She looked concerned that Nakamura-san may be taking advantage of me.

Izuku: "It's fine. Nakamura-san has already helped me plenty of times before, so it's time to pay it back."

Receptionist: "Alright, as long as you know what you are getting yourself into." she then opens her desk to take out my entrance card.

I thanked her as I then made my way to Nakamura-san's lab. When I made my way through, I could see him already working on one of the wrist launchers. He had goggles on as he was trying to fuse two metal components together. He didn't hear me enter the room as he was too busy focusing on the task at hand.

I didn't let my presence be known as we still have a lot of work to do. So I went ahead and set my things down as I then set up my own area to work on another wrist launcher. It took ten minutes until he took a break.

Satoshi: "Phew, nearly done with this one. Now, where is my energy drink?" he says out loud as he then turns around to see me already working on a wrist launcher myself. "Midoriya? When did you get here?" he asked as he was surprised about my sudden appearance.

Izuku: "I got here around ten minutes ago. You were so focused that I didn't want to interrupt you." I said as I took some circuit boards and start adjusting them to make it function properly with the launcher.

Satoshi: "Oh did you now?" he says as he lifts his goggles to rub his eye, "Sorry about that, I've been so busy that I only had 4 hours of sleep and only made 7 more by myself. " He then puts his hand down and saw that he had bags under his eyes.

Izuku: "Well, you can sleep if you want since I'll be here to take over for a while."

Satoshi: "No, no, no. I can't have you doing work by yourself for an assignment assigned to me if I'm still able to do it. I'll continue working." he says before he spotted his energy drink right near my desk and gulped down every last drop before he threw it to the recycling bin.

I stayed for 3 hours before I had called it a day. I was barely able to finish 2 before I had to call it a day. I saw that Nakamura-san was still working without a break as he was working on his 9th one for the day. I didn't want him to overwork, so I jumped up to reach his neck as I then knocked him out before he could continue overworking himself. I then finished the 9th one for him. I left him a note before I went back home.

I got home very late as I saw that mom was sleeping on the couch, waiting for me to come home. I grabbed one of the spare blankets that we had and placed it on top of her. I then went to my room to continue working on Mei's gift.

The next day when I got to class, our test from yesterday was passed out. I got a 75% on it for talking yesterday and the other 20% was taken and given to Kacchan because the teacher explained that if I hadn't interrupted him, he would have noticed his mistake and gotten a perfect score, so she took my score as punishment.

Kacchan wasn't happy that he had gotten free points from me. He once again confronted me during lunch as he said how he never needs my help. I scraped by with a couple of bruises.

The rest of the week consisted of the usual stuff: school, training with sensei, assisting Nakamura-san, and building Mei's gift. I noticed that Nakamura-san's eye bags got darker as he started looking more sleep-deprived. I had to make sure that I knocked him out so that he could sleep. He smelled as well, suggesting that he was staying in his lab throughout the entire week.

On Friday, after I was done training with sensei, I had to meet with Mei because I had no way to contact her so that I could tell her that I'll be too busy to meet her.

Mei: "Hey muscles, glad you came. I was having trouble with this baby right here." She then pulls out a harness with some canisters attached to it and a long rod protruding from it.

Izuku: "Actually Mei, can we end it early for today?" I nervously asked.

Mei: "Why?" while she continues going through her box

Izuku: "I have to help Nakamura-san with his order." she then looked up as she was trying to remember something.

Mei: "Nakamura-san? Why does that name feel familiar?"

Izuku: "Haven't I told you? I work for Tanaka Corporations and assist Nakamura-san with his projects." I said nonchalantly as I then saw Mei's eyes turn into stars.

Mei: "YOU WORK WITH THAT NAKAMURA-SAN" she then ran up to me and vigorously shook me.

Izuku: "Y-Yeah I do. Now can you please stop shaking me?" I said as I was getting dizzy. She then let go of me as I try to hold in today's lunch. "What's amazing about Nakamura-san anyway?" I asked.

Mei: "You don't know? He was the assistant of Benjiro Tanaka, where they both worked on many projects. Many earned recognition from the public due to how versatile they were when it came to building inventions," she says with excitement, " Sadly, after Benjiro-san's passing, Nakamura-san somehow faded into the shadows of Tanaka Corporation." she looked sad when she said the last sentence. "And now you're telling me that you work with him," she says all excited again as she grips my arms.

I only nodded at her as I was too nervous to say the wrong thing, unfortunately, acknowledging that I work with him only set her off more.

Mei: "Let's go meet him since you said that you'll be helping him." she then drags me off, leaving her babies in the forest.

Izuku: "Wha-what about your babies?"

Mei: "It'll be fine, no one really comes here besides us. Besides, how often is it that you get to meet one of your idols?" she says while she continues dragging me, getting further away from our location.

Izuku: 'What do I do?' I thought as I was trying to come up with a plan to stop her.
