Chapter 122: Under Observation

Izuku's POV:

I stuck to the usual lesson of first tutoring Yaoyorozu-san while Miss Yaoyorozu-sama had a chair brought up to sit down while her maid served her tea while she observed the two of us, which slightly made me tense as I then stuttered while I tried to speak. Yaoyorozu-san didn't say anything about how awkward I was acting, which I was very thankful for.

It took thirty minutes longer than usual to end the tutoring time as I had a hard time trying to get out the words I wanted to say. Now that it was time to train her, I looked inside of my bag for one of the remaining drones I had, as I then used the UCS to get it to be airborne.

MY: "What's the purpose of the drone?" she asks with a curious look.

Izuku: "It's to keep a lookout so that Yaoyorozu-san and I won't get caught while I tr-" my voice then faltered as I then realized I had taken the drone out by a force of habit and had just admitted that I've been secretly patrolling the hallways with the drones.

My neck slowly creaked over Miss Yaoyorozu-sama's direction while my face was plastered with worry, afraid of how she was going to react.

MY: "Impressive." she says with a smile as she sets her teacup down on the saucer, "You strategically utilize the information you were given, allowing for discreet training without anyone's knowledge." she says as she clasped her hands together and closed her eyes in delight, which made it hard for me to react as I couldn't tell whether she was praising me or criticizing me. "Now you gave me new plans to implement to prevent something like this from happening." as she slowly opens her eyes, sending down a cold shiver down my spine.

Momo: "Mother. Is it really necessary to talk about that now?" she complains, which had slightly startled Miss Yaoyorozu-sama.

MY: "Oh deary me. It seems I got too into the lack of security in our home. Please, continue where you left off." as she returns to her prim proper self.

It took me a while before I recuperated from Miss Yaoyorozu-sama's cold gaze as I then took out some tape and started marking the tiles into a circle.

MY: "What is the purpose of this?" she questions as she overlooks me placing down the tape.

Izuku: "I'm making a small arena to spar in. Utilizing both skills and environmental awareness." I said back to her as I had finished making the simple arena.

MY: "Aren't you supposed to be training her to use her quirk?" she questions further.

Izuku: "Using a quirk and utilizing a quirk are two different things. If I only trained her to evolve her quirk, her battle intuition would be zero, making it hard for her to use her quirk as she would have no idea how to properly utilize it properly." I said back to her while I put back the tape into my bag as she leaned forward and hmmed in understanding, looking like she was in deep thought.

Yaoyorozu-san and I both got to opposite ends of the circle as we bowed to each other and then got into our stances.

Izuku: "You're allowed to use your quirk for this one." which seemed to surprise Yaoyorozu-sama.

MY: "But wouldn't it be unfair for you as your quirk isn't a physical type?" she questions but Yaoyorozu-san interjects.

Momo: "Trust me mother. Even with my quirk, I am nowhere close to beating him. This is what he meant by utilizing a quirk." which she covered up the fact that I actually don't have a quirk since I haven't been open about my quirkless status to her parents yet. She had also taken off her socks and rolled up the sleeves of her jacket.

Yaoyorozu-san then created her favorite thing, the bo staff, as she then got into a fighting stance with it. None of us had moved until I nodded my head, signaling that the time to spar has started.

Yaoyorzu-san was very quick with the uptake as she quickly jabbed the bo staff at me, but I had quickly pushed it to the side with my right hand, narrowly missing my face, as I then spun to give her sides a backhand slam with my left fist. It seemed to have made contact with her, but what my fist made contact with felt harder than flesh.

Izuku: "Making a thin layer of armor under your clothes, making your opponent unaware of the protection. Nice thinking." I said back to her as a compliment.

I then quickly tried to pull the bo staff away from her but she easily let it go, startling me to fall backward as she then did a low sweeping kick to knock me further off balance.

Using the bo staff that I was still holding onto, I quickly planted it behind me as I then put all the strength in my arms to push my entire body upwards while keeping the bo staff standing. Yaoyorzu-san's sweeping kick was a miss, but she continued the momentum as she did a complete 180 as she then used her other leg that was raised higher to hit me, which seemed out of reach, but she then used her quirk to make a staff slowly come out of the bottom of her foot, extending her reach.

I had to push myself off the staff to avoid getting hit as I then heard the clash of metal. I didn't get very far in the air as I had landed closely from where I launched myself from, but by the time I landed back onto the ground, Yaoyorozu-san had finished her cycle of the sweeping kick.

I was about to tackle her from behind before she could get back up, but I started getting nauseous, causing me to see double as I then missed my target. I then saw the double Yaoyorozu-sans stand up as they then turned around to reveal gas masks.

Izuku: "Good idea with creating the nauseating gas." I said to her as my whole body felt like it was spinning, which I then heard someone else stumbled to the floor, meaning the maid and Miss Yaoyorozu-sama had also fallen under the effects of the gas.

Momo: "Sorry mother, but there is no way for me to freely control gas. But don't worry, it'll be over soon." I then saw her creeping up close to me, slowly forming a bo staff in her hand as she then pointed it towards me. "Looks like it's my win," she said in a delighted tone.

I quickly kicked her off balance, causing her to tumble to the floor as I then quickly relied on my other senses to figure out the exact point where the gas mask would be at. Once I had a general idea of where it was, I quickly reached out for it and pulled it off her face as I then placed it on myself, slowly clearing up my vision.

I saw her grip the staff as she then quickly swung it at me, but I grabbed it and pulled it out of her hand, and pointed the other end to her, completely reversing the situation.

Izuku: "Still want to continue?" I ask.

I saw in her eyes that her will was to keep on going, but she closed her eyes as she then put her hands in the air.

Momo: "I give up. I don't have enough lipids to keep this going." she says.

I took off the mask and placed it back onto her so she wouldn't be as affected by the gas.

Izuku: "Victory is never assured until the other has given up, so never let up until that happens." I said back to her to show what she did wrong.

I then stumbled my way to the windows, getting them to open in order to release the gas trapped inside the room. It took a few minutes before Miss Yaoyorozu-sama, her maid, and I no longer felt the influence of the gas.

I then saw Miss Yaoyorozu-san slowly get up, with the help of her maid, as she looked back at the outcome of the spar. She then gave a slow clap as she then smiled.

MY: "What an amazing showing of both your abilities. Who knew my daughter was trained to this degree." Yaoyorozu-san slowly turns her head as she then smiles. "Also what a wonderful display of skills despite having the quirk for enhanced intelligence." which made me proud for a moment, but the guilt lingering behind my head didn't let me enjoy the moment as the word quirk was used for me. "So. What's next?" she questions.
