"Hey, I thought we were meeting at Luke's" Lane says running up to the twins by the gazebo.

"We were?" Rory asks. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I forgot" Victoria says.

"Let me guess, Rory and Lorelai haven't made up yet" Lane guesses. "Nope" Victoria confirms. "Things are still very Miracle Worker at our house" Rory adds.

"God, how did everything get so screwed up?" Rory asks.

"I think you staying out all night with Dean had something to do with it" Victoria tells her. "And grandma being there to witness it didn't help" Rory says.

"Never does" Lane comments. "It sucks, things were good. School was good, Dean was good. Now my mother and I are barely speaking, mom and grandma are barely speaking. Deans new name is narcolepsy boy" Rory says. "How's he taking it?" Lane asks.

"I don't know, I haven't talked to him since it happened" Rory tells her.

"That's four days ago" Lane points out. "I know" Rory says.

"Has he called?" Lane asks. "I told him not to" Rory tells her. "And he listened?" Lane asks another question.

"No" Victoria tells her.

"Good boy" Lane says. "Okay, I really need to talk about something else now" Rory tells them.

"You went shopping" Lane says seeing the twins bags."Yes, we did" Rory confirms. "We got a mooing cow shaped timer for Sookie" Victoria tells her.

"Don't forget the cardio salsa tapes for Michel" Rory adds.

"Rory got a book for Dean" Victoria tells Lane. "You for Dean a book?" Lane asks looking at Rory.

"Yeah, Metamorphosis" Rory says. "And you let her get him Metamorphosis?" Lane as turning to Victoria. "She got it when I wasn't looking" Victoria tells her.

"It's Kafka" Rory says.

"Very romantic" Lane sarcastically says. "I think it is romantic" Rory tells her.

"I know I've always dreamed that some day a guy would get me a really confusing Czechoslovakian novel" Lane jokes. "I think he'll appreciate it" Rory defends. "A book send the wrong message" Victoria tells her sister.

"What are you talking about?" Rory asks.

"You have to look at what a gift says to the other person, not to you" Victoria explains. "Yeah, remember two years ago I got my mom that perfume?" Lane adds.

"Yeah" Rory says. "Okay, to me that said hey mom you work hard you deserve something fancy. Now to my mother it said hey mom here's some smelly sex juice, the kind I use to lure boys with. And resulted in me being sent to bible camp all summer" Lane tells her. "Yeah, but" Rory starts.

"Just imagine that you actually gave Dean something really romantic, and he gave you a football" Victoria cuts her off.

"Exactly, your hypothetical romantic present is saying that you really really like him. And his present it saying hey man let's just be friends" Lane continues.

"And your saying that this book is-" Rory says. "Is a Czechoslovakian football, yes" Victoria finished for her. "So then what do I get him?" Rory asks.

"What you should do is find out what he's giving you and than gauge your gift accordingly" Lane tells her.

"But doesn't that kind of take the fun out of it?" Rory asks. "Gift giving us serious business, if you don't believe me try spending a month at Korean bible camp" Lane replies.
