New Beginnings

Act 3 ch 10

"Are you serious?" Lane asks walking through the snowy Stars Hollow street with the Gilmore girls.

"I am serious" Lorelai answers. "We can really rehearse in your garage?" Lane asks her.

"In exchange for the promise that you never pose naked on the cover of Rolling Stone, no matter how much trouble your career is in" Lorelai replies. "I promise, I love you. Do you know how amazing your mother is?" Lane says turning to the twins. "Very amazing" Victoria says.

"Yes, she still loves me. My other daughter forget my amazing jess this morning" Lorelai links arms with Victoria.

"Because hot water's enjoyed by all, not just by you" Rory says. "I wasn't in the shower that long" Lorelai insists.

"Man, it's winter carnival time again already" Victoria says looking at the winter carnival banner. "Yep" Lane replies. "Are you going?" Rory asks her.

"I have to. We're raising money for the marching band this year, mandatory booth manning is involved" Lane answers.

"Man Lane, marching band, rock band" Lorelai says. "Music is my life" Lane tells her.

"Hi, Mrs Kim" Victoria pretends to see Lane's mom. "So not funny" Lane says after jumping to look only to see her mother isn't actually there. "raising money for the marching band to do what?" Victoria asks her.

"Please let it be new uniforms" Lorelai says.

"It's so we can finally have letter carriers, for some reason the powers that be think that the reason we never win at competitions is because no one knows who we are. The fact that we suck has never occurred to them" Lane explains. "What's wrong with our uniforms?" she asks.

"Nothing" Lorelai quickly answers. "We look stupid, right?" Lane asks. "No" Lorelai replies.

"The plumes are too big and it looks like big red fountains of blood spurting out of our heads" Lane freaks out.

"I love the uniforms" Victoria lies. "It's bad enough I gotta be in marching band at all without being mocked for what is mandatory for us to wear" Lane says.

"N-not I-ah-I don't mean-remind her that she gets to rehearse in our garage, cause I think I'm losing points" Lorelai turns to her daughters. "Your uniforms are great, and people knowing who you are can only help. Now let's just enjoy the snow, okay?" Rory assures Lane. "Okay" Lane nods.

"Especially, since some of us have been freezing since our showers this morning" Rory adds.

"I wasn't in there that long" Lorelai defends herself. "I'm sorry, can we get back to the uniforms? Cause on a scale of 1-10 how much do I not wanna let Dave see me like that?" Lane asks.

"10" all three Gilmores answer at the same time. "Okay, thanks" Lane accepts that.

"Hey, are you doing anything Saturday?" Victoria asks walking over to Tristan's locker.

"I don't think so, why what's up?" he asks her. "Stars Hollow's having it's winter carnival this weekend. Games, snow cones" Victoria answers.

"Eating snow cones in the snow?" Tristan questions. "Yes" Victoria nods. "Sounds perfect" Tristan smiles at her.

"So you'll go?" Victoria asks him.

"Of course" Tristan replies. "Good" Victoria says leaning up to kiss him.

"Is Rory bringing Jess?" Tristan asks her. "I'm sure she'll try getting him to go, not sure if he'll actually be into it though. Why?" Victoria answers then asks. "Just wondering, I'm used to us seeing Rory and Dean at stuff like this" Tristan answers.
