Chapter 20

"So, then he starts ripping my $20 bill into like a million pieces. And I'm sitting there thinking to myself there is a store full of people why am I the one in line with the crazy magician" Lorelai tells her daughters a story while they sit at Luke's.

"Ok I'll cut to the end, so he couldn't put it back together again and had to pay me back in quarters" she says seeing the bored looks on her daughters faces. "Very good story" Rory says.

"You look tired" Lorelai tells her. "I haven't been sleeping well lately" Rory replies. "How come?" Victoria asks.

"I just have a lot on my mind" Rory answers.

"Anything I can do?" Lorelai asks. "Flag down the coffee" Rory responds.

"Arm going up now" Lorelai says signaling. "Rory, you got to wake up" Victoria says when her sister yawns. "Wanna play?" Lorelai asks.

"One, two, three?" Victoria asks her.

"I'll go first" Lorelai says and they all look out the window. "And one" Rory says as a really old guy walks by.

"Pass" Lorelai passes. "Why?" Victoria asks. "Because I'm not Anna Nicole Smith, next" Lorelai tells her.

"Two" Victoria says as a guy skateboards by.

"Mmm pass" Lorelai passes again. "Why?" Rory asks this time.

"Because I'm not Mary Kay Letourneau" Lorelai explains. "Okay" Victoria says as Luke walks over to the table. "What are you looking for?" he asks wondering why all three girls are staring out the window.

"My new husband" Lorelai answers.

"She's already passed up two perfectly good prospects" Rory tells him. "But I'm feeling pretty good about number three" Lorelai adds.

"Do I want to know what you're doing?" Luke asks. "Hey Luke came to the table, does that make him number three?" Victoria asks her mother. "No" Luke answers.

"You don't even know what we're doing" Lorelai tells him.

"The safest answer in anything involving the three of you is no" Luke responds. "We're playing one two three he's yours" Lorelai tells him.

"I didn't ask" Luke reminds her. "You can take the first guy that walks by, or if you pass assuming there's somebody better you can take the next guy that walks by or if you don't take him you're stuck with the third guy" Rory explains. "Got it?" Lorelai asks.

"I'm not playing" Luke tells her.

"Of course not, it's still my turn" Lorelai says. "Okay, guy number three is crossing the street right now" Victoria says and they all look out the window.

"Why am I looking?" Luke asks. "Because it's like a train wreck" Victoria tells him as Kirk walks by. "Oh no" Lorelai says seeing Kirk.

"Daddy" Rory jokes.

"Not Kirk" Lorelai says. "Maybe he'll buy me a phone" Victoria jokes.

"I wanna go back to the old guy" Lorelai pouts. "Congratulations man" Luke says patting Kirk on the back as he walks in the diner. "Uh, thank you" Kirk says confused.

Lorelai starts laughing.

"What?" Kirk asks. "Nothing" Lorelai says.

"Did someone put the kick me sign on my back again? It wasn't funny last week and it's not funny now, I have asthma" Kirk says leaving. "Mom, look hes leaving" Rory says. "Oh no, Kirk come back I love you" Lorelai says in a high pitch voice.

"Alright, your turn" Victoria says turning to her sister.

"I don't know Vic, mom already got Kirk. How can I top that?" Rory asks jokingly. "You're right, he's yours" Lorelai says.
