You awake to birds chirping in the tree just outside your bedroom window, The smell of eggs and bacon being cooked downstairs floods upstairs and into your bedroom, the sky is a bright shade of blue as not a single cloud can be seen in the sky for miles.

"What a perfect day." You groan between stretches

You reach beneath your pillow as you feel around for the cold touch of your phone, finally pulling it out and reading a text message from a certain boy.

Rafe
Pick you up for lunch? x

You smile groggily at the message before your father helps himself inside your room with a tray of breakfast in his arms, sparking a bit of suspicion as it wasn't a normal occurrence that your father would bring you breakfast in bed, but you accept it graciously.

"Morning dad." You say as you rub your tired eyes.
"Good morning sweetheart." He says in return as he places the tray on your lap, "courtesy of your mother."
"Thank you, where is she?"
"Had to run an errand quickly. Midsummers is tomorrow, we're running short on time, even with the Cameron's help."
"Oh?" You say before placing a piece of scrambled egg in your mouth, "is something wrong?"
"The storm left the island with little to no products, real low shortage on everything." He says before continuing, "actually."
"Hm?" You chew on your bacon.
"About midsummers, I've been enlightened about a harmful situation that included another boy."

Your heart drops at his words, worried sick that he had found out about Rafes fight with Kelce and refrain you from seeing Rafe for any reason at all that he deemed unfit, which was almost everything.

"Kelce?" He asks with a hint of concern in his voice that you weren't used to.
"Uhhh... yeah." You hesitate, "ma told you, hm?"
"and Rafe." He adds.
"Rafe?"
"He said he was at the party when it happened, your pogue friends helped you out of a vulnerable situation, whatever that means. Is this true?"

That statement wasn't quite what you had expected to hear, that includes the rare show of emotion from your father too who had clearly seemed worried but also slightly thankful towards your friends that he once forbid. You can't help but smile at Rafes intentional and smartly thought out words to your father.

"Yeah it is." You finally respond.
"Alright."
"So, what does that mean for midsummers?" You ask.
"Well, suppose I'll have to cancel his invite won't I? Who am I to despise a group of innocent friends of my daughters and not a boy like that?" He smiles.
"Thanks dad." You say as he makes his way back out of your bedroom, closing the door behind him.

After breakfast, you jump in the shower and freshen up before throwing on a pair of ripped jeans and a beige crop top.

Rafe
I'm on my way x

As you wait for Rafes arrival, you decide to sit on the grass just between your house and the water with a single pencil and a sketch book, sketching any animal that crossed your path before a one-legged seagull lands on one of the posts of your pier.
You sketch it delicately before a pair of hands land on your shoulders abruptly, causing your heart to jump out of your chest.
"Boo!"

You look up to be met with a pair of familiar blue eyes as they hover over your face.
"Rafe!" You laugh as you bring your book up towards his head with a thump.
"Ow! You're so mean to me sometimes Y/N." He jokes as he rubs his head painfully.
"You had it coming." You giggle.
"Hey that's pretty good. Can you draw me?" He asks as he lays down beside you on the grass.
"I don't know man, not sure if I can bare looking at you for so long."
"Why? Feel like you might fall in love?" He says with a mischievous smile.
"Pffttt." You huff, "in your dreams."
"How'd you know?" He jokes moments before he tackles your upper body against the grass, bringing you down with him. His hands drift down to tickle your waist as he begins to nibble at your neck, causing you to worm and laugh underneath his body.
"Rafe! Rafe! Stop! I can't breathe!" You struggle between laughs.

Rafe lifts his body away from you as you lay on the greenest of grass. His arms still propped up on either side of you as he stares down at your oh so beautiful expression. Your face plastered with the brightest of smiles as you catch your breath and your smiling eyes sparkle with tears of joy. He takes in your every detail. Your beauty and everything wholesome and pure, including your laughter that to him, sounded like it was strung from a harp by angels. He admires you adoringly, capturing this moment in a photographic memory, a mental Polaroid to treasure.

"Had enough?" He finally says, smiling down at you.
"What was that all about?" You say, a smile still present on your face.
"Just a perfect day today."

It was, in fact, a perfect day today and the both of you could feel it almost in unison but Rafe knew exactly why today felt so much better than the rest.
Today felt warmer, the world seemed brighter and the air, fresher. And the reason behind it all was the hopefulness that Sarah had sparked in him the night before. She had officially given Rafe her blessing, although it's not like he would have given up if she hadn't, no way. But the fact that she did, felt genuine.
And thus, he feels free.

The immense amount of happiness he felt in this moment was almost too much to contain.

He began to tickle you again, returning his head down against your neck except his mouth gradually went from nibbles to soft kisses and his tickling hands slowed to a gentle rub against your bare waist, trailing up towards your rib cage as his knee pressed up and against your inner thigh.
"Hey!" You press against his chest, prying him away from you as your own chest flutters with rampid butterflies.

He stares down at you silently as he prolongs eye contact with you, dreading from pulling away entirely. His eyes trace a triangle on your face as they drift from your two eyes, down to your mouth and back up again. Pulling away had never felt harder than it did in this moment as his chest coursed with warmth, his lips felt magnetised to yours like the moon to the oceans waves. He wanted so badly to lean in, but he knew he had to respect your boundaries as he remembers what you had said the first time he had kissed you.

"Just give me time."

Rafe sighs in defeat before finally rolling over onto his back next to you, leaving you still huffing for air.
"You ready to go?" He asks as he rolls his head to face yours.
"Where are we going?" You ask with a smile.
"Milkshakes, obviously." He says jokingly as he stands up, dusting himself off before holding his hands out for you. You gladly take them and he pulls you up and almost into him entirely.
