chapter name: prologue

George has lived in Aslyn his whole life. It was a well known town because there was an observatory, and they knew the time. There were no clocks or digital phones, so nobody knew the time unless someone who had it sold it to you. There was one boy who sold the time, and that was George. He was paid weekly by the people he gave the time to. $5 a week, in total the boy had money.

George was well known by everyone, and when a new family moved their business into town they also wanted the time. Their son ended up tagging along with George on some days and the relationship between them grew.

Notes

Yes there will be electricity in businesses only, because people who didn't own businesses can't afford lightbulbs. There is also running water in some areas and homes. The world was not homophobic and the women were respected and had rights. Otherwise the story is on point with the time period.
