Morning had come fast with the birds chirping and the small slips of sunlight glowing my room. I pushed myself out of bed stretching my limbs taking a minute for the foggy glare to leave my vision before heading into the bathroom slamming the door shut behind. I went into my normal routine that I always stuck with fixing myself up for school. Maybe I would stop by the grab and go later or take my bike and ride around to explore more of Denver.
"(Y/N)!" my mother yelled down the hall just as I was done washing my face. A groan escaped my lips as I headed down the hallway into the kitchen giving my brother a kiss on his forehead while he was chewing on some cereal. My mother stood there crossing her arms a bit. I haven't done anything bad in the past few hours so why does she look like she might whoop my ass.
"Yes?"
"I heard there was a fight at the grab and go" she said tilting her head at me. Fuck why does she know. "I want you to stay safe if you're going there after school and please don't stay out too late"
I nodded my head walking away, slightly surprised she wasn't going to do anything. I went back into my room searching around for some nice pair of clothes settling on some shirts and a pair of jeans heading out the door to start a day of hell. I was gripping the strap of my bag twirling it between my fingers humming a tone looking around.
"Fight fight fight!" I overheard being the little curious person I was. I ran over to a crowd of people pushing two girls aside to take a closer look. There was one tall boy with red hair a snarl tugging his lip while next to me was a slightly shorter kid then the first with long black hair a bandana holding it back, he kept a calm posture. The kid gave no warning throwing a punch as the shorter kid duck down avoiding his throw kicking him back.
"Robin!" the kids cheered on as the other one was getting his ass beat. I kept watching the fight for a bit longer before leaving, seeing the fight was already ending with Robin winning. I was heading to English class sitting in the back seeing the same girl from yesterday taking a seat beside me.
"Did you hear about the fight?" she whispered so the teacher wouldn't overhear us. I nodded my head pulling out a book looking over to her.
"Why did it happen in the first place?"
She shrugged, pulling out her book reading. I shook my head reading my own book as the teacher went on to explain a lesson until the bell rang. I was heading to my next class passing by the same red hair boy with blood dripping from his nose and lip. He gave me a passing glance rolling his eyes heading over to the nurse. I got to science taking a seat in the back pulling out a sheet of paper for notes twirling a pencil between my fingers drawing small designs. A boy with short wavy brown hair with doe eyes took a seat next to me keeping quiet to himself playing with a rocket flashlight.
"Hey that's cool" I whisper pointing to it. He lifted an eyebrow confused before realizing I was talking about the rocket flashlight.
"Thanks" he whispered under his breath playing with the flashlight as the teacher started explaining something about space.
It was finally getting close to the end of school. My brain was already forming a headache from taking so many notes and upcoming tests already. I got to the gym throwing my bag next to the back wall.
"(Y/n) you have a partner yet?" the coach called out.
"I just got here" I said, walking over, pushing my hands in my pocket. Everyone was running around playing whatever they wished with their friends. "What are we doing that needs partners?"
"Will be going outside. Your partner will be Griffin Stagg. Griffin, come here!" he yelled out. The boy from yesterday in the corner stood up walking over to us, a little bit nervous. The coach gave us a small introduction blowing the whistle sending us out.
"Hi" he quickly said, holding his hand out to me. I smiled, taking his hand in mine shaking it a little bit.
"Hi"
"My name Griffin as you already know I'm happy to talk to someone"
"Oh, don't you talk to anyone else?" I asked. His face expression changed a bit to more down while his eyes averted my gaze.
"No...I'm a social outcast. I barely talk to anyone most of the time. I'm okay with it but I still like to talk to someone" he said, rubbing his neck a little.
"If you like, we could get to know each other" I said, smiling a bit. He was debating the thought in his head for a few minutes.
"Sure" he said. Once we got outside, I looked around finding a tree with some shade sitting down by there while Griffin took a seat near me.
"What do you like to do?" I ask cutting the thin silence.
"I like to go bike riding, reading, spending time with my mother sense my dad not in the picture"
"Did he leave?"
"No, he in heaven"
I wanted to say something cutting myself off thinking of the next word I could say before he cut in.
"What do you like to do?"
"Oh well I don't do much besides reading, bike riding, art that's pretty much it" I said. Soon the conversation turned to books going back and forth on what we read or wanted to read until class ended.
"Well looks like we have to get going"
"It was nice talking to you" Griffin mumbled. I still heard it as I smiled, turning my attention to him.
"Would you like to be friends?" I ask, watching his eyes light up.
"Yes" he said, holding in his excitement.
"I'll see you tomorrow friend" I said waving my hand walking into the gym picking up my bag throwing it over my shoulder running back home.
