chapter seventy-eight

When I woke up, I found myself suffocating in the mattress with Vance lying on top of me as I felt one of his arms on my head and the other at my side. I pulled myself out toppling on the floor as Vance let out a slight groan from the loss of warmth but didn't wake up. I looked around the room, finding myself the only one awake as most of the boys were still sleeping. I made my way out the living room trying to be quiet as I looked into the kitchen for something to snack on but there wasn't much so I went to the bathroom rubbing my eyes a little as I wondered what I should do to keep myself occupied but to be quiet so I wouldn't wake the others. I ran to Finn room searching for a shirt and short to steal as I ran back to the bathroom setting the clothes on the counter top before searching around picking up two towels one for the floor and another for myself as I turned on the faucet letting my hand soak under the water making sure it was just the right temperature as I strip myself out of my clothes stepping in running my fingers through my hair pulling it back under the water. At that moment I had no care in the world as I stepped under the shower head letting the water soak me in warmth as I hummed quietly to myself reaching my hand out picking up the soap washing myself up. I heard a groan outside the door and then a knock.

"Come in" I called out scrubbing myself down as the door opened.

"Morning" Bruce said from the other side as I stepped under the shower head again washing my body off "how did you sleep?"

"I slept okay beside waking up almost dying because of Vance" I said as Bruce chuckled walking back out the bathroom leaving me in peace as I turned the water off stepping out the shower taking the towel rubbing it up and down my legs and arm to dry off a bit then I took Finn clothes throwing them over myself as I slightly spun in the mirror checking myself out a bit until I step out the bathroom walking over to Bruce who was in the kitchen with a box of waffles next to him as he turned his head looking to me with a small smile as I felt a sort of tug to get closer to him.

"Want some waffles?"

"Umm sure" I said as I stood a few feet away from him looking back out to the boys who were still fast asleep as then I felt a shiver go down my spine as Bruce noticed wrapping his finger around mine pulling me close to his side as I felt a sudden warmth. I stayed next to his side stealing almost all his warmth as he was filling up a plate full of waffles using the whole box as I slightly felt bad that we had now just taken all the waffles from Gwen and Finn. my stomach growled as I reach over taking a piece quickly eating it as Bruce laughed. The others were starting to wake up as Griffin got off the floor making his way into the kitchen stealing a piece of waffle off the plate as he looked between me and Bruce. Finn was the next to wake up as he entered the kitchen quickly noticing what I was wearing as I gave a slight smirk.

"Are you going to keep stealing my clothes?" Finn questioned not out of anger but more curious as I shrugged, hugging myself around the fabric as the smell of vanilla filled my nose once again.

"No, I'm just borrowing it because I took a shower this morning" I said, still holding myself as Bruce rested his arm against my shoulder as he picked up the plate of waffles showing them to Finn as he took two pieces to eat. the others soon woken up each taking a few pieces of waffles till nothing was left as we all rushed to the couch each trying to figure out a way to all fit this time as Griffin, Billy were sitting on each arm rest and the four books took up much space while I sat down on robin lap laying back laying on the four boys resting my head on Robin. Bruce took the remote turning the channel to some cartoon as we all stared at the tv in amusement. that how we spent most of the rest of our day until I got up walking back to the bathroom taking my clothes stuffing them under my jacket telling the boys my mother would probably want me home soon and told Finn I'll give him back his clothes on Monday probably as the boys wished me a slight good luck some of them giving me a hug as I put my jacket on pulling my boots up before I opened the door as some snow started falling to the ground. now I see why I needed the good luck. I step my way over the snow walking out down the street as I stuffed my hand back in my pocket to keep myself warm as I went around to take another short cut path.

"(Y/n)!" A voice yelled out as I turned my head wondering who it could be as my eyes landed on Michael just the person, I wish to run in I thought trying to fake a smile as he got closer to me.

"Hi Michael" I said looked up at him as he gave me a smile.

"How come you're out this early?"

"I could ask you the same thing"

"Oh, my mother was sending me off to the grocery store for things because she needed to go to work what's your excuse?"

I couldn't just up right and tell him I was with Finn and the boys or else that lie would have just been a waste and he would probably get angry with me. 

"I was coming back from the grab and go"

"You didn't get any snacks though"

"I forgot my pocket money at home"

"Oh, I could get you something if I have extra money, want to come with me?"

No! my brain shouted rattling around in my head as I was still trying to maintain a fake smile. I just wanted to go home right now. 

"Sorry I can't" 

"Oh, that's okay" Michael said still maintain a smile as I nodded my head walking off.

"I'll see you on Monday!" I shouted over my shoulder still walking back home leaving a pissed off Michael. 

once I made my way home to the empty silent, I let out a sigh of relief taking my jacket and boots off leaving them by the door along with my pile of clothes as I dragged myself back to my room jumping over my bed pulling the covers over lying my head back curling up a little before falling asleep.
