chapter sixty-three

I was still lying-in bed wishing I could rest forever when my mother came bursting in shouting about how I was going to be late for school. I rolled my way out of bed picking out my outfit for the day, throwing it over myself making my way into the bathroom to brush out my hair and teeth.

"The clock is ticking!"

"I know mom!" I shouted rushing out the bathroom picking up my shoes tugging them on. "See I'm ready"

"Well, you're missing first period right now" she said, twirling her keys in one hand while holding my brother in the other as we both rushed to the car. I held a grip onto the car for life as she sped up dropping my brother off first to daycare then quickly rushing to my school. "Remember sweetie have a good day"

"Yeah yeah" I said, getting out of the car walking into school explaining to the front lady why I was late needing a pass as she rolled her eyes, throwing one on the table as I gave a fake polite smile while taking it walking away giving her the middle finger before I left. It came as no surprise when I saw Vance walking down the hallway avoiding class only coming around here to talk to his old friends or us.

"Wow (y/n) didn't know you also be skipping"

"I'm not Vance I was just late and felt like sleeping in"

"Fucking lucky you"

"Yep, also a heads up you may want to hide soon I saw the vice principal walking around"

"Thanks"

"You're welcome" I said rushing off to class, opening the door as the teacher stopped her lesson looking at me. I handed her the pass walking to the back taking a seat next to Donna as her face lit up.

"(y/n) (y/n) I got to tell you something"

"What's that?"

"There a new kid coming to school"

"Wait, is it a boy or girl?"

"I'm not sure I just heard we will be getting a new kid next week"

"I hope it's a boy then the girls can stop giving me glare for the Bruce incident" I whisper, pulling out my book as she let out a giggle turning her attention back to the teacher while she went on explaining the next assignment we would be doing for the rest of the month. I was busy toning her out a bit, staring out the window humming to myself a little bit waiting for class to end. once the bell rang, I got up packing my things throwing my bag over my shoulder walking out to find Bruce and Finn standing by my locker. 

"what's the special occasion?" I questioned spinning the lock opening my locker shoving a few books in that I didn't want to carry around. 

"We wanted to ask if you would come to our last game for the season" Bruce said, leaning on the left side of me looking down.

"Well of course I'll come but I'll have to finish up some homework before, what time does the game start?"

"Five o'clock" Finn said as I nodded my head slamming my locker shut making Finn jump back quickly.

"I'll see you two at the game then, are the rest also coming?"

"Griffin and Billy will be there. Robin might come and Vance, we're not sure" Bruce said.

"I think he will if you bribe him" I said walking off to my next class with Robin taking a seat beside him as I noticed some blood on the table.

"Who got their ass kick?"

"You know" he said with a slight smirk

"Moose?"

"Bingo"

"At this point he's never going to learn his lesson even if he gets brain damage" I said, pulling out my textbook plopping it down on the table flipping through the pages for today's lesson. robin nodded his head in agreement looking over my shoulder reading the plans for today as I took out a piece of scratch paper for us writing down the homework handing it over to him as he took a pencil trying to focus. 

By the time last period came I was already drained physically and mental laying back on the grass as our last day of spending the enjoyment outside before snow would fill the ground. Griffin was sitting near the tree beside me reading into his book while constantly looking over at me. I didn't mind it though as I rolled onto my side reaching over for my bag grabbing my sketch pad looking around for some sort of inspiration as my eyes landed on some bird sitting on a branch, its eyes scanning the ground for a sort of moment for food. I started out with the base first lining out the outside. If the bird would take off I could have somewhere to go off. I was finishing the beak of the bird when it dove down picking up a worm wriggling its way for freedom as the bird flew up to the branch again snacking on it before taking off. the teacher then blew his whistle as I sighed picking up my bag walking with Griffin to the library where we all planned to meet up at before the game.

 I was pulling out my pile of homework working from English down to gym writing until my hand got a cramp. the others soon got here beside Bruce and Finn who were getting dressed for the game. Vance and Robin were already making bets who would win as soon Griffin and Billy joined in the bet. I was more siding over to Bruce side since he was already taught at a young age and the last time, I've seen them both play Bruce beat Finn, but I wasn't going to bet over it because both of them were good players in their own way. I was finished with the last piece of homework as Robin was quick to grab me by the arm rushing outside to the bleachers all of us taking a seat in the back.  the boys had come out one by one with their team as I started cheering for Finn and Bruce clapping my hands a little. the game lasted hours with each boy getting a turn before Bruce step up to the pitcher throwing the ball in the air a bit while Finn got to the plate twirling the bat a little looking slightly nervous.

I was on the edge of my seat looking over biting my nails a bit as Bruce looked up grinning at me before throwing the ball as it came flying right for Finn, he took the swing hitting the ball up the air quickly running off to base one then base two daring to go to base three as the ball kept going in the air falling back down landing to the crowd. a few people watched the ball wondering where it would go as I watched it come crashing down bouncing off the seat in front of me falling back onto the ground. I quickly turned around jumping to the ground snatching it up before some girl could get it as I held onto it till Finn got to the Homeplate winning the game. the girl gave me a slight glare as I made my way over to Finn.

"Do you guys need this back?" I questioned holding the ball up handing it over to Finn as he took a quick glance down then back to me.

"Well yes but you can keep it, don't get me in trouble though"

"I promise I won't thank you Finn" I said with a wink turning away grabbing my bag heading home leaving a bright red face Finn behind as he grew nervous running off with the rest of his team back into the changing room.
