We were heading down the street. Griffin holding onto his bag with one hand the other holding his bike.

"You could ride your bike there, I'll catch up" I said, turning my head to him.

"I'm good with walking"

"Fine" I said, clutching my bag a slight breeze in the air pressing against my skin. I should have brought my coat or jean jacket with me but it's too late now. Up ahead I could see the store already growing with other kids around hanging out for the weekend.

"Everyone just hangs out here a lot"

"It's the best place to go" Griffin said walking to the bike rack putting a lock around the front wheel.

"I see that" I said heading inside the store with him trailing behind. I was searching around for snacks or maybe a soda when Griffin jumped out of nowhere tugging at my arm pulling me back. "What's going on?"

"Pinball Vance is here" he said, pulling me over to the corner. I looked up at the machine and there he was the same boy from that fight and whose name was whispered around like the bogey man.

"Okay what is with Vance? Why is everyone so scared of him?"

"He beats the shit out of anyone who gets close to his game, and he's mean to almost anyone"

"Does he have anger issues?" I ask, crossing my arms a bit still staring at Vance who was only focusing on his game hitting point after point not looking towards anyone else.

"Yes"

"Then just leave him alone" I said walking off into an aisle crouching down picking up (f/c). Griffin came walking back over shaking his head a bit.

"Still, he's scary"

I just simply agree with him because I did see him kick the shit out of someone but growing up back in my old town with my friend who had anger issues, she was also nice to the one who were close in her life. I couldn't be sure though about him. I walked up to the counter checking my back pocket pulling out a few dollar bills handing it over to the worker turning my attention back to Griffin.

"Would you like anything?"

"No" he said, looking around the store. I grab the candy back putting it in my bag heading out the store.

"Want to go back to my place? We could go for a bike ride maybe" I said wanting to hang out a bit more holding my bag. He agreed to the idea, rushing off to take his bike lock off trying a few times to pull it off but with no luck. "Did you forget the code?"

"Yes" he said, checking in his bag digging deep until he pulled out a bunch of rolled up sticky notes unraveling each one. I grab a few helping him out finding one sticky note covered in numbers two three three one seven.

"Hey, I think I found it" I said, handing it to him. He got back down unlocking his bike following my side down the street in a neighborhood right in front of my house. "Wait here please"

"Okay" he said, holding his bike. I rushed into the house throwing my bag on the floor while walking around. Nobody was home. I ran into the kitchen pulling a piece of paper out taking a pencil writing a note so my parents wouldn't grow worried. Once it was done, I set it down on the kitchen table running back outside into the garage pulling out my old bike. I hop over it steadying myself a little before riding out to him.

"Sorry It's been a while since I rode this" I said, still steadying myself, my bike swinging from left to right almost falling back.

"I could help" he said, peddling next to my side.

"Please do" I said. We started off peddling back and forth on the road going further out once I got the hang of it again before starting a race from my place to a drive in not far. Griffin took the chance getting a head start before me as I peddled faster getting close. "I'm getting closer!"

"No you're not!" he called out, speeding his pace a little. The wind ripped through my hair, the breeze wrapping around my arms, my adrenaline spiking giving me enough energy to catch up again. Griffin suddenly yelped, pulling on the brakes. I got confused why he was suddenly stopping until I felt something hit my bike sending me tumbling down to the ground. I pushed myself back up, holding on my knee looking down the skin was already ripped with some blood dripping down. Griffin came running over to my side looking at the scrap pulling out a band aid from his pocket.

"You carry band aids around?"

"Sometimes I get distracted" he mumbled, putting the band aid on.

"Thanks" I said, smiling a bit. The sky was turning rays of dark blue as Griffin had to sadly get home to his mother before she got worried for her only son. We waved goodbye as I headed home putting my bike back into the garage heading to the bathroom using some hydrogen peroxide letting it sting my skin watching the bubbles form before rinsing it under some water putting another band aid on. I got up walking into my room slamming the door shut behind pulling the curtains back, jumping onto the bed laying badly, closing my eyes to get some rest after a long day.
